I have to agree with Jim. I see no disqualifying characteristics either. I took him out of his cage to get a much better pic. How's this? Maybe now you can get a better idea. The second pic is a red bar Ambanja I use to own. I see big differences between the two.

By the way, he looks very good!! Ambanja happens to be my favorite locale!!:D

What you are seeing is equivalent to a dog marking his territory. He does a quick lick almost like he's sticking his tongue out at you lol!! He is just sensing his territory that's all.;)

Chris, I take no offense to anything you have said. However, I would like to know what "characteristics" you see in this particular specimen that leads you to believe that he is not indeed an Ambato?
