    Changing light timing

Currently, I have my lights set to go on from 0800 to 2000. With it getting dark around 1730, the Captain is retiring much earlier. Do any of you change your light cycles to match more closely to the earlier sunsets? If he is starting to hunker down at around 1630 for bed, it seems a bit...

    Plants

According to Chameleon Academy, it should be ok. I am also new to Cham keeping and finding a reliable source of truth can be difficult, but Chameleon Academy has never led me astray. Here's the link for Safe Plants: https://chameleonacademy.com/plants/

    Bedding Down

The Captain has withdrawn to his quarters and bedding down for the evening. I find it funny that his chosen spot is one of the prayer plant leaves near the bottom of his enclosure.

    Welcoming Captain Kidd

I was told he is an ambilobe. His sire is green with some beautiful blue, and reds around the face when fired up.

    Welcoming Captain Kidd

Thanks! Our daughter wanted to name him just Captain, but my wife was like there needs to be more. And we already have a dog named Calico Jack, so we kept the pirate motiff.

    Enclosure Setup

Thanks for the advice, the window is NW and gets some ambient light, but never any direct sun and we keep those blinds always closed. However, I was also thinking about putting up a foam board or other panel to block out any light coming in from the back. As far as lighting, I'll see what I can...

    Enclosure Setup

For sure! We are treating it as if there is a cham in there, sans bugs of course. Living in Central Florida, keeping humidity around 48 to 50 is not too difficult. Hardest is trying to get a good temperature gradient as we keep our house at 75 during the day.

Night time humidity - Central FL

Great and thanks for the info! Once I get everything set up, I'll give it a go. I am just a bit north of you, so I hope it'll have a similar effect.

Night time humidity - Central FL

Hi all, My family will likely be getting a Panther Chameleon in a few weeks. As I'm getting things set up, I have read that you want to have nighttime RH to be between 80 and 100%. To help facilitate this, the latest and greatest is fogging in the early morning with the caveat that the temps be...
