That sounds EXACTLY like my cham hermie when he broke his legs... please get him to a vet ASAP. Maybe he just fell and broke one leg, but hermie's legs broke due to MBD. Hermie just started by breaking one leg and when he tried to climb again he fell bc he was unstable and kept breaking more...

I used twisty ties and also would run them from support post to support post squeezing them around each support post as I went. I have one of the screen cages that zips around the framework, and it was tight but secure.

screened cage ... they allow for better ventilation so there is a lesser build up of bacteria, which is much healthier for the cham.

When I ordered my silk worm pod I also ordered a petri dish of silk worm eggs ... how exactly am I supposed to take care of these eggs? I kinda thought that they would come with instructions... do I leave them in the petri dish until they hatch? Thanks!

I just wanted to let you guys know that Hermie got his LAST cast off today, and we have him on a low dose of calcium daily still. In a month or two we will get another xray of him to make sure that his bones aren't getting weaker or over-calcified. Hermie's silk worm shipment came today ...

The pods are pretty cool ... I have silkworm pods. The only thing is that the last time I had silkworm pods mine slowed down on eating them and after a week or so they had eaten most of their food and it started to mold in there. YUCK. But they are really convenient.

I do have a question about shedding ... my vet said "incomplete sheds" are a sign of poor health ... like parasites or something else that is wrong. Hermie began shedding a week ago and still has little bits of skin here and there. And I've upped the humidity in his cage to try and help him out...

This is just a guess ... but what came to mind is that if he's miserable from something else he very well might want to close both eyes, but his wild instincts keep him from doing so to watch out for predators? But you said that his URI is all gone? So that might not work as an explanation.

I think that this definately warrents a trip to the vet ... ASAP. Do you have a good exotics vet in your area? Is he still pooping? What is your set up like? (temps, housing, etc)

Hermie loves wax worms (if I'd let him, he'd eat nothing BUT them). I have herm "trained" to eat off of a spoon ... when he was younger I brought all of the crickets into his cage on a spoon and he would grab them off the spoon with his tounge ... so usually he'll do the same with wax worms...

Heika, where do you buy yours from? If hermie likes them I'd love to buy some for him ... I don't trust the ones he finds outside to be safe (pesticide wise).
