Could you post some pictures of your chameleon before he died? With the patches etc?
Our vet really has to be rough (as in pulling hin chin down quite hard) sometimes to open the mouth of my friends jackson chameleon. Otherwise it's just impossible to open it, and if the vet needs to look...
For more info about bioactive setups, I would recommend the facebook page 'Reptile and Amphibian Bioactive Setups'. People there have lots of info, and they can answer all the questions you have. There are files posted there with guides how to build up a setup and lots of photos with examples...
For Brevicaudatus: Roomtemp during the day is ok (20-23°C), they really suffer from temps >25°C. During summer, lots of pygmy keepers are scratching their heads to keep them cooled down and keep them alive. Allthough they can survive if it's only shortly and you mist more frequently. They need a...
Hey, it doesn't get any bigger for now. I've noticed one of my girls has the same now, so maybe it is something normal after all? Or they both have the same problem?
Well, I'll be damned. I just saw pictures passing by of O'shaughnessy on facebook, and now found these of yours on the forum. My eyes almost popped out, almost had to pick them up from the floor. This is a damn beautiful species!
Thanks for the link, it's a good one. If I understood correctly, they say that fatty liver isn't usually the primary cause of death? Well, it is a metabolic disorder, but it only leads to death when for some reason the chameleon stops eating? So I need to look for the reason why he might have...
His diet was mainly crickets. He just didn't show interest in something else, so I quit trying... He never gave me a 100% healthy impression, but we (vet etc.) couldn't find what and if something was wrong, mainly because examination is complicated with pygmies and we didn't know his age. It...
After my male temporalis (WC) died of illness, I brought him to the vet for an autopsy. Extra lab tests on his liver lead tot the conclusion of hepatic lipidosis which probably lead to liver failure and his death. I was wondering if someone could give me more info about this issue in chameleons...
Hey,
I noticed that the eye of my young male looks a bit different then with my 2 girls. I don't know if I should keep 'an eye' on 'his eye' :) or if it's normal. Anyone who has an idea?
It's the front corner of his eye. Mainly his left eye, but also right.
Thx
That's terrible :( On the picture he doesn't seem ill. And dropping dead in 3 hours without any signs of illness, that's strange.. :( Are you planning for an autopsy? Take care..
Last year, I bought my first chameleons at a reptile fair. The guy who sold them to me, told me I got 1.2 Brevicaudatus. Inexperienced as I still was, I couldn't recognize their sexes myself, and they were still pretty young. After a few months, I started to get used to the species and their...
She is growing into a very fine young lady. She's absolutely beautiful, her colours are just perfect. Today, she's about 7 months old, and nearly 6 grams in weight. I adore her and really hope she will continue doing fine :)
Tonight, I had this wonderful dream in which I unexpectedly came home with new chameleons that I find absolutely amazing. In real life, this would be impossible for me right now, but in a dream, anything is possible of course! It was a carpet chameleon and 2 acuminatus pygmies. Two species which...
This is my friends Jackson. He found his way up to a rope that was hanging in the garden, but I guess he didn't expect a rope to be that unstable. I l-o-v-e-d it when he opened up his legs like a bird to find balance. Haha
