Yeah I totally understand that if they are going to be giving treatment they want to see them. I was hoping to be able to make doing a fecal exam a routine (assuming it’ll be negative) without having to bring in my cham.
Do you get your chameleons a fecal exam periodically? What do you think...

I wanted to get an updated fecal exam on my little guy but I called my vet and they said they can’t do a fecal exam on a pet they haven’t seen in the past month? I was there at the beginning of September, so like 3 months ago. I mentioned how hard it is to get a chameleon to the vet especially...
I’m currently getting a 4’x2’x4’ enclosure all set up and am looking for advice about a basking spot in an enclosure this size.
For people with this size of enclosure, do you have one heat lamp or two? Ever hear of anyone using 2 heat lamps? How do you have your lights set up on the top of the...
Hey Murry,
I know this thread was from earlier this year but I’m currently getting a 4’x2’x4’ enclosure all set up and have been searching for answers about basking spots in an enclosure this size. I’m wondering if you have only one heat lamp or two? Ever hear of people using 2 heat lamps? How...
Sorry for the late reply. I’m new to culturing insects and was quite freaked out when I seen just how many larva there is! They are covering the media at the bottom as well. I guess they really liked my media? Idk 🤷♀️
Yeah I thought it was weird they all died too as it doesn’t seem to have crashed since the larva is still flourishing? Not sure what qualifies as a crash though! Can’t imagine what your culture looked like with even more larvae😅 larva were even crawling out the small pinholes I poked in the...
Thanks for the reply. The temperature and humidity is always under control so I don’t think it’s that. Maybe they were just old but it makes me wonder why they all died at the same time. Should I somehow get rid of the dead flies or are they fine to leave in there?
I originally had a coffee filter in there but noticed yesterday it had sunk down into the culture so as a temporary fix I put those white plastic fencing sort of things that came from a store-bought culture in there. There was still a bit of the coffee filter available to them at that point, but...

So last night I checked one of my fruit fly cultures and it was normal, all the adults were alive with a good amount of larva on the sides of the jar. This afternoon (12 hours later) I look at the jar and I can’t even barely see into it, it’s covered I mean COVERED in larva. And all the adults...
I will definitely try that before l go back just in case it’s that easy, wouldn’t that be nice! :) She did mention that she’s heard of canv (yellow fungus) and will do a culture if it’s still there. Fingers crossed it’s totally benign 🤞
Just wanted to update and tell you guys the vet immediately said that he is too young for an injection, she didn’t realize how small he is from the pictures. Because of the location of the spot being directly in the middle of his belly, the vet thinks it might be some left over egg yolk from...
He wont eat crickets :( I found out the hard way.. I had ordered 500 pinhead crickets (the smallest order they had available from Josh’s frogs) a little while after I got him and he ate about 5 of them. Wouldn’t give them the time of day 🤦♀️ I want to get him roaches soon but they seem too big...
What would indicate giving an animal so young an injectable antibiotic? I’m not sure if you seen the pictures but the infection, if it is one, seems pretty small and could maybe be treated less aggressively?
What a small world! She signed the email Dr. Emily. She was very kind to answer my email. Here’s a quote from the email: “I'd have to look at him "in person" to tell you for sure, but assuming it is pus we would put Flick on injectable antibiotics (we'd show you how to do it) and most likely I'd...
They all have their own food in their respective cultures. I just made my own fruit fly medium with one of the recipes on here, was thinking of routinely putting an old blueberry or some kind of fruit for them to eat in my little guys house so they could gutload that way too, have done it before...
