Weird, a petshop near me has had a female for 2 months w/o uvb lights and it still looks quite good, but probably gonna go downhill anytime. He marked it dow twice, selling it for 100 bucks
Thanks for the tips guys! The heat lamp idea makes good sense, i have an extra flood light in the garage and i will put egg cartons under it like jack suggested, i will have to quarantine my cats cause they just gonna play with it! Cats are such little buggers, all nice and cute when you are...
Yes, the warping, make sure you hand pic ever part you need, find a flat surface in the store and check every one of them. The most important parts to check are the ones you will be using to make the door frame with, a slight warp in the door fram can cause it not to seal properly when you close...
One of my girlfriends stupid cats managed to flip over a large rubbermaid bin when i was sleeping!!!!! With 500 crickets inside!!!!!! Its winter here and the floor is cold, I did find alot of dead ones, but those would account for 100 maybe 150 of them, there is still ALOT missing..... I put...
It wont be long :) he is only 5 months old, I am really enjoying my first chameleon! You can really "see" it grow and fill in its colors! Every next day he gives me a new surprise!, chams rock!
5 weeks, I was told they grow fast... but seriously??? How long can they keep up such a growth spurt?
If only I had a good camera, his colors are really coming in!
The pic on the left is when I got him
Do you have a nail gun? I borrowed mine, its a must i have to admit. Take a look at my pics of how i built my cage. The biggest mistake i did was not make a drainage hole, i will have to make one with a hole-saw :-S
Use a good quality pine at minimum if you plan on using the cages for many years. Seal it with natural water based products, they have a conplete line at Rona. And put 3 layers of it making sure it dries in between each. If you want color use stain has it cannot crack and flake off.
Hey, my chameleon does the same when he is going to shed. They open their mouth so much thats its almost freaky with a little shake at the end! I freaked out the first time he did it, then he did it again when he was just starting his second shed in my presence. I believe they do it to break...
Thanks! These are good reads, i read all the ones you posted about animals who eat earth and such. Keep em coming! I wish one day I can help newer members on this forum with info that can be backed up.
Looks good to me, of course you could save a few bucks by building your own cage and buying accessories not marketed towards reptiles. But for the convenience I think its worth it
Biff had his first Silkworm ever! His first of any worm really! Its funny cause he did not want to take it from my hand like he does with crickets, so I put it on a branch...
He walked up to it, gave it a quick lick (like scenting) and backed up... Fired at it once, it did not move, he then...

I got my panther from a middle man, it came from a breeder in quebec. This breeder raises all his chams on this vitamin mix, and this is what i do also.

The hardest part Is doing correct research, but if your are into reptiles it should all be fun! Theres nothing hard about it if your into it.
Has for me, the most time consuming aspect is the feeders, keeping a bulk quantity of crickets thriving and clean is quite a task, you will have to...
