I'm more worried about them getting too hot because being from montana I jsutt assumed that it would be cold and had a heat pack shipped with them and now its in the mid 70's. And thanks for the reply! I'm glad to hear that it's more of a not updating thing than my package having spent 2 days...
I didn't know where to put this so feel free to move it. :)
I have some dubias being shipped USPS Priority and I haven't had an update from them in 2 days and it shipped on the 8th. Has anyone had experience with Live shipping through USPS? are they just really bad at updating their tracking...
I whisper when mine are asleep or stalking prey, Like they can even hear me. Then my BF will come up and go "you're not whispering because they're sleeping are you" and then I play it off like a cool kid who would never do that in a million years.
Bent paper clips or twist ties outside of the screen works well. I also use sticks and plants as my main support and have used black yarn to tie vines to sticks to sturdy it up a bit. My chams have never even noticed it.
my female veiled bit me when I brought her home from the pet store. I got her out of the box fine and was waiting to put her in her cage when she calmed down and I moved and she landed one on my thumb. didn't hurt but it scared me so bad. she has bitten since but she is so gentle, they don't...
I have a female veiled that is totally frightened by tongs. It seems to be pretty normal. I go in with a light colored glove. she seems to take to it so you may want to try that. were slowly moving over to just the hands. Everything with these guys is a process. I still have a little one that...
To my knowledge dubia don't but lobsters and hissers will. the only way youll have one escape is if you drop it or it has a way to get out of the bucket.
Luckily enough I have one cham who just eats anything I offer to her, be it carrots or bugs or veggies she'll take it from me, If I leave it in her cage though she just wont eat. The other guy he'll eat anything free range but will not cup or hand feed, still a baby and still really skiddish...
I still have quite the load of crickets and cricket credits to work my way through lol I'll have crickets for quite awhile. That and if I can't get the children to like them then I should only have a few on hand. Neither of them are picky though so I have that going for me.
Just thought of some other questions. About how many can I keep in a 58Qt rubbermaid container without it becoming crowded and where can I purchase a heating pad for them?
I definately will not stop offering them, but as the staple feeder they are obnoxious to care for. I will probably just go for the 25 if they breed well then, to cut the cost a bit :) thank you so much for your response.
I'm done with crickets. They won't breed, they stink, they escape, and my males keep dying. So, I'm switching to dubia. My question is how many roaches do I need to start a colony? Is 25 good or should I just go for the 50?
