Yikes! Please be careful with the idea of administering vitamin A shots to your new cristatus. Montane species should be fed gut-loaded crickets or roaches that have been fed carrots, slightly cooked yams, or slightly cooked pumpkin in addition to their regular gutload for beta carotene (a...
What a funny post. My WC 'teen' T. montium just waved his wang around in front of me this morning. I'm guessing he just wanted to impress me or show me who's boss. :p Nice lookin' fella you've got there, btw. :)
Congratulations! I looked at the fourth pic not recognizing the species name, and saw the different looking head-piece. I had to look up the species to see the adult pics... WOW! Nice job! :).
YAY! See!? I knew there were more of us out there somewhere! Thank you both so much for replying! Thank you also for the link,"clarkrw3"! I looked at your photos, "clarkrw3"... I'm speechless. He's stunning! I'm so anxious to see what my lil boy's going to look like when he's an adult...
You have two?! (O.O) WOW! I love connecting with people who also have them! I know there are more of us out there (besides 'Ponders', Chad, myself, and now yourself (I like your avitar pic, btw))... I just wish they would post their pictures/updates here too. :( I just love my little boy...
Mister, for sure. Though a rain dome from Aquazamp is better yet. :). It will keep your humidity up, as well as provide drinking water. If you had a montane species like a Jacksons, Meller's, Kinyongia, etc... I'd say both, but we're talking about a Veiled. Good luck!
OMG, Kevin! That's one h*ll of a set-up you've got goin' there! SHEESH! LOL Nice pictures of it all! You showed where the water drains into from the trays, but from there, does it drain outside, or do you have a pump connected to some sort of permenant drain in the house?
Get a hold of ThePhotoPrincess! They have 10 Melleri, and have done a marvelous job with theirs. If you have a Facebook page, look up their page: The Chameleon Farm.
Oh, don't I wish ThePhotoPricess did have Melleri eggs, as I'm sure they'd wish too. Nothing reported yet, though. They have a persistent male, but apparently he hasn't been able to woo her over quite yet. :) When they do have melleri babies, I'm SOOO going to have to visit! As it is, I can't...
A good idea would be to have an automatic timer for the lights, and an automated misting system (ie: Aquazamp) for the water. As for food items, you could simply leave food in a cup in a secured place in the cage. This would provide you with a few days to escape. Too much more time away than...
While it is a good point that the low ph of the distilled water can lower body ph... food, stress, and exercise have a strong influence on the overall ph of the body as well.
What is best for chameleons is actually quite an interesting question to me. Rain is a form of steam, so on one side...
