They usually stop eating 1-2 days before they start to lay. Mine started to scratch the background of the enclosure, I placed her in a big garbage can with moist playsand and left her there. Check out Jannb's blog about egg laying!

You have a cute girl there! :) And you can tell if it's a boy or girl even when they are very young. The spur is spur and is pretty obvious generally. I had a hard time at the beginning, but my experience is that if there is no obvious spur, then it is a girl. :)
