please don't take anything i say offensive
I think the cage you have for her is very unstable. rope that is tied to one side to can still swing, especially under heat lamps, rope with thin out. using cut up shirts can as well become unstable for your chameleon.
I get jungle vines from...
I can see that my girl may have a little red def turquoise and maybe some purple.
I can tell that my boy is dark green. lol thats all the color he likes to show (basically he is telling me to back off if im cleaning is cage, but hasn't done that in awhile)
So I've had both of my veiled chameleons (male and female) for two months now and they are approximately 4 months old and well, I wish they were more colorful as other chameleons.
this is Talula my female
and this is earl
No she can't see him. He is in another room. and when i heard her hiss i was no where near her. She is very friendly with me, everytime i mist her cage is always willing to climb on to my arm on her own. It was just really strange.
You know, before I put the light about 6 inches from the cage. and it was normal temps. the baskeing area was 85. but the vet said it would be better if we just lay it on the cage. and I am very much considering getting a lower watt bulb. when I first got both of them, the lighting was fine. and...
ok, i"m just worried because thats the temperature will the light off. it can get to 90 if i dont lower the light ( i have a light dimmer and i use a 50 watt house bulb) and its not even summer yet. it can get to 120 on average in arizona and i am a new chameleon owner, I've had both of them for...
Right now, i have the light turned off (its almost bed time anyways) and the baskeing area is at 85 degrees. the bottom of the cage is at 75. at night it is 75 to 80. there is no salvia coming from the mouth. and she is not weezying. she a hiss from her mouth
unless you plan getting a vent for your terrarium, it is best that you remove the front door and replace with a screen. chameleon need lots of air and glass terrariums do not provide that. Also, it is very important that you get your heat lamp.
the tempatures and ubv are very important aspect...
also, I started noticing like white stuff coming out of her nose a couple weeks ago. its kinda like dry skin that usually falls off. Is that normal for chameleons? I know that is normal for other reptiles
So today, as i was sitting around the house, I heard a hiss coming from my chameleon terrarium. I went over to look at her and I noticed that she was puffing up and moving around (kinda like they do when they shed, even tho she shed just yesterday)...
I continued to watch her and she began...
I live in arizona and i understand what you mean by the dry climate. Honestly, like was mentioned before, you best bet is to cover two sides with plastic or plastic screens. I am able to keep the humdity up to 60% in there terrarium with plants and moss and plastic!
depending on if you a boy...
that's a pretty girl you have. def. need smaller crickets. she should be eating 8-10 small per day (but really you should allow her to decide how much she would like to eat). and since she is still so young, you may want to cup feed her. it's the easiest way to feed them and allow them to eat...
ok so i noticed you joined april 2011. well i joined b4 you and i am still unable to blog. what is going on here? sorry its unrelated to your post, but i want to talk about my chams too
i have two veils. and my girl is super friendly. she likes taking her shower and loves going out an about. I live in arizona so the weather here is always warm, so if i go on a walk, she will get on my shoulder and walk with me.
My boy on the other hand doesn't want to be bothered. matter of...
