It is really just ignorance. Obviously thats the kind of person she if that is how they wanna act. Not really the mature thing to do, but other than calling her out not much you can do but grin and bear it..
What kind of worm are you feeding?
I find that lethargic critters dont get the chams attention too well and they just stare at the food..
If you can get a worm thats wiggling all over, or spin it a little in your fingers, you might get him more excited..
I know that if i pinch a crickets leg...
I agree, if you want to collect data, you need to do just that. I feel the information could be useful to some extent but you should start by posting your own results and observations if you want others to follow suit.
Also Not everyone has IR temp guns to measure their chams.. dont forget to...
I will try to answer your questions as thoroughly as possible while at work.
The cage itself is fine for a small cham and your vines should go all the way to the top, The cham need to have the heat lamp on one side or corner, and a place to cool off on the opposite side. Given you have enough...
Seagram settles in.. Baby panther pics
Seagram arrived last week and I've been letting him get acclimated. He is loving his big cage and I see him take full advantage of the space. Never even climbs on the screen. Basking spots seem to suit him well also as he has a few he regularly stretches...
I saw this magazine cover at petsmart when I was there with my friends to buy fish, and decided to buy the mag just to see what they had published as a care sheet and guide to owning panther chameleons. I was actually quite surprised and relieved at the accuracy of the article and how well it...
Yes WC is the same as Field collected. I believe a majority of wild caught jacksons are coming from Hawaii now so its not even that bad like they are being plucked from their natural environment.
You do run the risk of different parasites being wild caught, but also you get a new blood line...
The cham is still very young, so he will have to grow into it. But the plants are pretty small too so hopefully they will fill out as he does.
Since he is young i plan to use a feeder cup to monitor his eating and make sure the large cage isnt causing him to have trouble feeding.
I have a new chameleon on order and I decided before it arrives I'd like to redo the enclosure.
Before I touched it up the wood was starting to show through in some spots. It was dirty and stained and needed a total refresher.
First I scrubbed and cleaned all the interior parts of the...
Dont forget guys the crickets stink. unless you are cleaning the enclosure frequently they will smell horrible. I personally wouldnt bother raising crickets unless you are feeding multiple chams and go thru them quickly.
Find out what days the local shop gets their deliveries and make sure you go right after. This way they are fresh and you get first access to the smallest crix. Also tell the person getting the crickets what your feeding and that size is important. They have to scoop them out by hand anyways so...
Get a spray bottle and mist him a few times a day so that he can drink from the leaves in the enclosure.
He will not drink from a water dish so just remove that.
You need some type of misting system to keep him hydrated, whether its done by hand or on a timer.
Cheap - Spray bottle

We estimate he is about 11 years old. We havent had him very long but the previous owner had told us his approximate age.
He is a big boy and keeps my lawn short and tidy!
