It shouldn't, but maybe he just doesnt like drinking with you there, I really dont know... I just wouldnt force him to be directly under the mist king.
Umm...Las Vegas..depends how long they are in direct light for...Chams can only regulate temps by moving out of the temperature.
If he sits in the sun, he continuously gets hotter until it changes.
You should consider getting one of these....I got one like 2 years ago and it works...
Umm...honestly, I wouldnt even be showering him that much in the same day as it will stress him. But when you do shower him, realize that they can hydrate from the steam alone, he doesnt have to be directly in the water.
And, since your watering schedule seems to be adequate, Im assuming...
My cham hardly drinks in front of me...so I make sure to offer water at multiple times during the day...whether he drinks or not.
I do know that chams get most of their hydration from their feeders, so try gutloading with more fruits n veggies... should help a lot.
Yea if you want to permanently house him under the porch (im assuming the porch is covered) then you will need to provide a UVB light.
Regardless of whether he gets sun from the sides at some point in the day, most of the time chams like to be high, basking where they feel safe.
So...
Very sad...and yea id probably hit someone if I saw this happening...
But since were talking about Baby birds, this reminds me of when I was in the 2nd grade and tried to rescue a baby bird.
We actually were doing well and it was eating a formula we had bought and all for a few days...
Nice Post and well said!
Ive actually been thinking of doing a post similar to this. One about how resilient these things actually are. They can endure much more than I was made to think- then i remembered...they are reptiles!!
Also, the ones that do know these animals very well...
Some pics of the outdoor cage with some inside views...Also a pic of all the accessories included.
Enjoy, and feel free to email or call me for any picture requests.

I live in Whittier California. Contact me!
Under 2 years old well established Veiled that lives primarily outdoors--except for winter. Fed with crickets and superworms as staple but eats many things.
I'm moving out of state and unfortunately cannot take him with me. Want to sell everything together and I think this setup would be...
Its actually a pretty interesting video in the sense that I just learned how chameleons fight....but remember, the rule of thumb is everything in moderation.
To help those who might not understand
Since you cant understand it, let me clarify for you.... Well it all started about last year when I decided to make a year-around outdoor cage...
I had some ideas for the bottom, but at the time, did not have it completely caged off (my reason for now...
The thing with the feeders is that they will always run an hide, usually underneath things or in places the cham wont go.
This is why most people choose to cup feed. It eliminates the guess work of how many he eats and how many get away.
Congrats on your new cham tho! Hope you enjoy him :)
Dont worry!!! I ve lost my chameleon tons of times.... Found him in the neighbors even up to 3 days later.
Pretty much, during night and morning he wont move until he warms up. So as the sun is coming out...he will be sunning..
Best time to look is in the morning before he heats up and moves...
When a Chameleon falls, its usually from other health reasons. Your chameleon may have MBD. Some things in your husbandry need to change immediately.
Lighting: Replace coil light with reptisun 5.0 TUBE
Food: Replace worms with Crickets
Plants: Replace fake plants...
Yea I just think that most reptiles dont show immediate signs of stress and its just better not get into the habit of handling-daily especially.
I think consistent handling stresses this animal that likes to be alone.
