Well since Im going to be getting out of the Chameleon Hobby for a bit, I thought now would be a good time to get some pics.
Too bad I waited so long to do this, but here is my male veiled eating some strawberries. Eventually I had planned to pay $100 for a 4-set of wireless cctv cameras...
Ive fed my guy a pinky mouse once...
Ive a tried a few other times, but I think he recognizes it as non-food for some reason.
Anyways, I wont do it anymore because he doesnt eat them anymore.
As for size...i would say if he wieghs around 150 grams. Lizards can eat pretty big prey...

Theres a few local places to see....I like the Santa Monica Pier idea as well as the drive to see the houses...two great ideas. Hollywood of course.
Also, you should check out Venice beach, good to go to during the day, close to LA, lots of interesting things/people to see.

Crickets are actually really healthy and high in protein also. They are a great staple and get more nutritious if gutloaded properly.
As for fruits and veggies, there are tons- pretty much anything u gut load with is fine.
See some other posts, but I use strawberries, watermelon, and...
My guy really likes strawberrys, cantelope, and watermelon. What I do is tie a twistie tie around a stick and then poke the fruit with the end of the twistie. He'll walk right up to them and bite them whole. Kinda cool actually, did it today!
I would use plastic chicken wire for the floor. Its more durable and strong enough to hold plants.
You may want to use shower curtain for the back of your cage though instead of screen. Since you live in if Oregon you might have a hard time keeping humidity up during winter.
Very nice cage, just a few concerns.
The substrate might be hard to keep clean with all the moisture.
Since it seems like you will have high humidity, which is good, make sure you also have good air flow/movement, as standing humidity is bad.
Other than that, very nice cage and...
I would think that for an indoor cage, three 7min mist sessions a day is too much. Try lowering those to like 5 mins and make sure the cage fully dries out in between mists.
The more frequently this moving happens, the more stressed he will be.
I had this problem with my outdoor cage during winter. Id have to move him in nightly, for about a 2.5 week period, becuase the temps dropped too low.
They can definitely handle it, but if its a habit, it will stress...
Going to be ordering crickets soon and everywhere I look has shipping for around $20.
Was wondering if anyone wants to go in on some crickets and just split the shipping cost.
I live in Whittier area.
Agreed, there are definitely benefits to exporting these animals to those who care.
Unfortunately, the mighty $$$ sees no face.
I find a lot of similarities between this situation and that of elephants and Ivory.
When I was kid I was interested in Ivory, it was shiny, smooth, and rare...
Superworms (meal worm cousin) are usually preferred over meal worms by reptile keepers.
Softer body shell, easier for digestion. Less impaction problems.
You should switch operation to supers :D
As an animal lover I feel that removing any animal from its habitat (unless relocation or for study) is wrong and should stop.
However...
As an animal keeper, I feel I and all of you are part of the problem. :)
The sad truth. :o
