Dirt mount planter for foreground, but the cage is shallower then I thought. :(

    Lunatuck’s build thread...

With the help of the wife and kids, I made some vines... Jute rope unraveled, covered in silicone and then covered in dirt mix.

Then I mocked up my branches before pulling out the spray foam... The big mound of foam is going to be a planter/big mound of dirt for the foreground. Screen enclosure shows up today. Then I spray foam the center crack! Yay!

    Lunatuck’s build thread...

My build has begun. I’m planning a viney planted rockface. I had some old foam rocks I made and they seemed to work perfect. So I’m running with it. I started with some eggcrate...

    Enclosure live background?

Nice setup! Thanks for clarifying that about bioactive floors. I was deterred mainly due to the myth, but may consider it for the next cage. This one is 24” wide and 36” tall. Should move into a larger cage with room for a planted floor. As for now, I’m going with my wall and keeping...

    Enclosure live background?

Thanks. Theyre not hard to make, and look a lot like the dragon ledges. But I love the crack going between. It was designed that way for a model railroad project that was recently broken down.

    Enclosure live background?

Brainstoming is on! I have some old styrofoam rocks I made for a past project. They will give me a great foundation and will make great planters if Input holes in them! I may start a build thread after this post, but heres my forst mockup for the time being.

Automated Cricket Feeder - Do you need one?

Sounds interesting, but the weighted plate will be tough. If you go digital scale, its expensive at low increments. If you go mechanical, its imperative that the balance remain clean and lubricated. Difficult in a Cham environment. I would try hard to find an alternative to the scale...

    Enclosure live background?

Thanks for the quick replies. I understand the cage will be outgrown. To give me a little more time, I was planning on having the faux wall V deeper into the corners preserving depth in the middle. It's hard to explain, but accomplishes what Jackjill posted above. Plus, when it's outgrown...

    Enclosure live background?

I have to say I'm blown away by the live vivarium style enclosures some of you are posting. Even before I decided I wanted a chameleon, I always thought I'd want a bioactive terrarium. It also looks like I'll have my screen enclosure for some time before I acquire my Panther chameleon. That...

My Bioactive Setup - Introducing Monet, my new Panther!

I sent a pictue to my wife, and she agrees! I'm not sure if a bioactive setup would be right for me, though I'd love one. Just afraid of the additional complexity. Just looking at your setup makes me thing I should. :) Is your bottom dirt (bioactive) or just the wall?
