Do not combine heat with humidity.
when misting, your heat bulb should not be on. So I I would simply switch wha you’re doing, to turn the heat lamp off before the uvb.
That way you don’t risk a respiratory infection.
They are safe... the thing is, you yould have to rince them well and repot them to eliminate possible pesticides residues.
You probably would be better off with humidity loving plants since your cham also needs alot of it.
I suggest:
•umbrella plant (Schefflera sp.)
•Ficus tree (F. benjamina...
Eating soil in itself isn’t what’s concerning. The perlite is. And they also can catch some parasites eating that soil.
And, just like Petr Necas always says, if you compare your husbandry to what it’s like in C. calyptratus (veiled), it clearly lacks MINERALS. It is dusty there. And some of it...
Peat moss? What kind? There’s almost always some fertilizer in peat moss... you can find large river pebbles at the dollar store or any home improvement store.
You could use some paper towels to cover it in the meantime.
Do not use sand or walnut shells because it’s worse than dirt.
It happens. It’s not you at all imo. There are risks even if you do 100% right. Like us humans catch flu and stuff.
And yess it’s 100% curable with treatment. You just gotta catch it fast and treat fast.
I’m sure he’ll be fine :)
Jackson’s do well when their enclosure is well lit. I would ad some white led or anything in the « daylight » spectrum, so he can see better his food and stuff. He will feel more secure as well as he will actually see something. Chams have good eyes, but it has to be a lot of light.
And they do...
Hi :)
First I would suggest you cover well the soil in your plant pots. Veiled LOVE perlite ( the white stuff in the soil ).
you can cover it with coconut fiber mat like the one in the picture. You cut it to best fit your plant pot and just make a hole for the stems or trunk if you have a...

Your guy is far from skinny :).
I also suggest you vary the diet and the pollen idea is great.

Wow I love your plants facts section. I actually did a research on photosynthesis and cellular respiration last year. Plants are awesome
Thank you for the nice reading!
I completely agree that it’s not realistic to think we are going to acheve 80% + humidity in a dry room that makes my nose...
Hi,
As I was removing Virginia creeper (Parthenocissus sp.) from my lilac tree in my backyard, I ended up with some long woody vines that I thought would be a nice addition to my enclosures.
I left it to dry for couple of days, then I cut it to fit in the tub. I soaked them in a mix of hot...
When I got my baby veiled last summer, I bought a 10.0 compact reptisun uvb and it was doing something to his eyes. Only when I removed it completely he was ok and never closes his eyes again during the day. I switched to a 18’ T8 fixture from Zilla, but I got an arcadia bulb (the 5.0 D3 T8 uvb)...
Great :)
I hope he’s feeling better.
In the picture, the lamp is a little too close to him, in my opinion. I would move away the heat lamp until his skin seems to recover... or change the bulb to a low wattage like 25 watts.
Eddie had burns too and even now I don’t put anything too hot...
I am well aware of that.
Seeing that he did all he could and, the fact that my cham had burns on his spine too but is ok now, made me want to reassure him by showing that it can heal.
I find it sad and it touched me that’s all.
