My chameleon has orange goo on spine

It’s exactly like my Eddie. When I got him his burns were healed, but I think it did look exactly like this before. Eventually the burned tissue falls off... but he will heal if you are cautious about bacteria. Here are some photos of Eddie. He is a sweetheart. Good luck with your guy :)

    Window trouble???

He does look dehydrated a bit. And as I thought, the sun is directly on him. It’s not bad to do that, my chams bask in the natural afternoon sun by the window but it’s not the mid day sun. So yeah just position the cage so the sun is there only in morning or afternoon:)

    Window trouble???

I hope he feels better. Glad to help :) I want to add, also, that it could be that the window is facing south. That would mean that at one moment of the day, it becomes really hot. The sun through the window creates a lot of heat in the room, combine that with the basking light... you may want...

    Window trouble???

I had a Reptisun mini compact fruorescent and my cham was closing his eyes in middle of the day. I removed the reptisun, he never closed his eyes again for no reason. Also, I read that the daylight blue bulbs were giving some sort of ocular migraine to chams. I think that every one should invest...

    Temperature

I got one of my boys from someone who was not mesuring temps in the cage and he got severly burned. Never leave your cham under a lamp unless you are certain the temps are right. My Eddie is fine now, but I really wonder how he got through this. I want everyone to see so no other cham is hurt...

Schefflera plant and gold dust croton

I’d say its arboricola. He definetly needs a bit of love though! And all the cretons are toxic and cause burns in mouth when chewed. Ps. I dont think that the actinophilla is toxic, since it’s the same familly as arboricola. Anyway, if your cham is like mine, he finds the leaves of arboricola...

    Lightning a big enclosure

Zoo med sells some 5500k bulb but I can't remember if it's for the plants or just basic lighting. But for this one you could pick watever is cheaper since it's only to put some light in the enclosure:)

    Lightning a big enclosure

I would use T5 HO ones, since the uvb dead zone, for the 10.0 one, begins at ~45" away. In comparison, the T8 only gives uvb up to 22" away from the bulb. If you go with the T8, I suggest using 2x 10.0 uvb and 1x 5000k basic white light or "reptile vision" light and 1x plant growth light (I...

    My chameleons acting wierd

Poor thing..... he doesn't look well... To me it seems like it as something to do with his eyes. What is your lighting set up? What Uvb light are you using and I would suggest you dont use a basking light at that point. You should keep your temp at about 75-78 F. Your humidity shouldn't be too...

Recent change in colors on a veiled

He does not drink in front of me but poop was as usual: the dark brown part and the white part (with the extra watery fluid, that comes from eating a lot of plant matter, I gess).

Recent change in colors on a veiled

I live in Montreal Canada and we recently had a heat wave of 3 days. Its been about 38 C for these days. I post this because my 4 minths veiled had not been taking his food as readily as before and he wont take greens neither. He used to love any veggie from when I got him. Also he does not...
