Chameleon anatomy - something strange on xray

Hmm it could be... It seems to be more.. like on the ventral chest wall though, rather than attached to anything. I havent seen the lateral views taken while he was sedated yet though, so I can't say for sure.... Definitely something to consider though, thanks!

Chameleon anatomy - something strange on xray

I tried on Saturday at work, but between the digital xray and the ipad, my technological abilities failed me. I'll email the vet and ask him to forward them to me! What it is, is something actually... below the heart, something long and thin almost! Whatever it is, it's distinctly separate...

Chameleon anatomy - something strange on xray

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge, or could point me in the direction of any publications detailing chameleon anatomy? I've had my veiled chameleon for about 18 months, he's now around 2 years old. He came to me with advanced MBD with severe pathalogical fractures...

Giving Drugs to Chameleons (by Mouth)

I have to give my cham liquid calcium, and I inject it into a worm - are yours able to eat small worms?

    Pygmy advice?

Hi, I've got a chameleon, he's an almost 2 year old Yemen called Colin, who I've had a lot of issues with (took him on with malnutrition, dehydration, chronic infection and advanced MBD). I knew I wanted a cham at some point in the future, but hadn't got around to doing any research yet, and...

    Veilds.. constantly climbing... why?

The laying bin needs to be available to her at all times, in the bottom of her enclosure, with enough vines/branches that she can get in and out when she wishes. She's unlikely to lay if you interfere with her, so physically taking her out and putting her in a laying bin won't work. If she's...

    WEIRD Pygmy idea.

I've always wanted to convert a water cooler into a fishtank for a goldfish or two!

    Veilds.. constantly climbing... why?

Do you only feed your chams crickets? You might want to think about adding in other feeders to give them a more diverse range of not only vits and minerals, but also stimulation. Also, I think they could possibly benefit from larger enclosures? Especially the female...

Burn? If so, what are the implications...

Yeah, was gonna do that, I've gotta call into work today and pick up some vaccines so I'll have a look and see what I can get.

Burn? If so, what are the implications...

Thanks for the reply. I've had a look online, and I cannot find Silvadene (or the same thing under any different name!). Is there a similar alternative?

Burn? If so, what are the implications...

Hi, I've had my veiled cham for approx 9 months now, he's about a year and a half old. I've recently moved house, and was floating around for 3 weeks between tenancies, so I boarded Colin the Chameleon at a small animal and reptile boarding place. He was very well cared for there, they even...

    Calcium RDA Question

Hi, I have a 1 year old male veiled, who I have had for 6 months after taking him on with severe MBD. He had another round of xrays today, and his bone density has hugely improved :D He's currently on an increased dose of liquid calcium for his MBD, but will soon be able to be reduced...

    Feeding Silkworms

I cup feed the majority of my chams food, but the silkworms I don't as they produce silk and everything just gets stuck together. when I feed him silkies, I just put them on the branch near him (he won't hand feed!) and they are hoovered up right away - def. a favourite!

 Make your own - then there's no need for additives like colours and preservatives

    dog or cat food deathly?

IMO - feeding and gutloading are totally different concepts. Yes, you can FEED your insects cat/dog food. No, you shouldnt GUTLOAD them with cat/dog food (for reasons already stated). Basically the gutloading rule I use, is would I feed it to my chameleon if it wasn't inside an insect?

    Eri silkworms?

Nope, normal prices and delivery charges. I've only had one problem with one lot going missing (yay, royal mail!) but Tom sent a replacement straight away. They are bred for you, so you can have as few/many as you want at whatever size. It's great to be able to have a reliable and regular supply...

    Eri silkworms?

Yeah I saw them on Lizard Lunch too. Silkwormstore.co.uk is great - I'm on their breed to order program, 20 medium sized silkworms delivered to my door every wednesday without fail :D

    Eri silkworms?

Their natural diet is oak or cherry I think - but I think they can do ok on an artificial diet
