where did you hear about them? I saw them on.... butterworms.co.uk i think - but they dont have any in stock - previous experience with them says they probably wont!
Done this :( - its all as it should be, and variety of feeders? This cham has an endless variety of food and is turning his nose up at it all - 3 different kinds of roaches, locusts, crickets, silk worms, butter worms, meal worms, wax worms - argh!
Yeah I reduced him down to 10hrs basking and UV in the winter and am increasing that back up to 12hrs at the rate of half an hour every 7-10 days or so - I'm all for creating an environment thats as natural as possible for my guys :)
Hi,
So, the clocks went forward last week - and my little dude has been eating less and less since the beginning of this week and is eating very little at the moment - could this be related to the clock changes throwing his diurnal rhythm out of whack?
If anyone else has experienced this...
awwww!!! i LOVE piggies - I'm currently volunteering at the local animal shelter (which is huuuuge!) while im taking some time out of uni. I REALLY want this little guy - hes so noisy and cheeky - but I can't because I already have an established group of three boys :(
I called him Jeff :D
Well done on taking this girl on! She looks stronger already.
I took on a cham with MBD and I don't think he was far from death when I took him on - he too has several fractures in all 4 legs, rib fractures etc. - but he's doing great :D
Have you tried offering her some silk worms and...
I cup feed some stuff, free range others, and shove things like silkworms and butter worms on a branch infront of him.
I find with the silk worms and butterworms etc. they aren't great for cup feeding because they produce silk, and just get tangled up with each other and my cham just ends up...
Thanks for that info - I'm aware of the balance between too little and too much D3 (unfortunately a large chunk of my degree is endocrinology - boo!) and his D3 is now once a week max - to be honest I'm trying to steer away from using it for exactly that reason, and the unknown toxicity etc. I'm...
He was very bad and his treatment is reflected by the state of his MBD - x-rays showed that he had barely any bone density, I don't think he'd have lasted much longer if I hadn't have got him and started treatment straight away...
He started off with oral liquid calcium (I use calcium sandoz...
My cham came to me with really bad MBD and used to do the grabbing leg thing all the time - I've got his calcium and supplementing schedules right now, and this behaviour has pretty much stopped all together
Thanks for that info :) I guess theres also the risk of things like the soil in the plants and stuff and I guess he's got more chance of contracting parasites from me (not me having them personally, but introducing them into his environment).
I'll treat him routinely for parasites twice a...
While we're on the topic, what's the likelihood of a cham becoming infected with parasites via their food - All of my feeders are ordered specifically as feeders, I don't use any wildcaught or anything like that...
I guess the chance is slim but he should be routinely wormed as I do my...
