    try dressing up like a hornworm.:D It takes time and patience to earn there trust. Remember to them you are a predator.

    DIY build, what kind of screen/mesh should I use?

    Black or silver .... The color is your choice. Just make sure it is aluminum and not the nylon type. Bugs will eventually eat through the nylon. You should be able to find at any hardware store.

    Worms

    Just be careful with the worms. They tend to get hooked on them and refuse to eat anything else. I use worms as treats once or maybe 2x a week.

    Het Jan your free range looks great.... Do you ever have a problem with one chameleon trying to get to another when they are free ranging?

    Yup.... They will love them. I never had any long enough that I had to worry about feeding them.

    Proximity of Cages Question

    You can have one cage next to another. Just place something between the cages. Anything will work like cardboard or plastic.

    First welcome.... It is not good practice to have crickets in the cage overnight. They may chomp on the chameleon while sleeping.

    Really, I'm not a stupid person...

    You were soooo lucky... It only takes a couple of moments or a simple distraction to lose a chameleon. Personally I use a caging system that a friend made out wire screen and conduit piping. Its a block of 16 cages on caster for when I put them outside.

    New To Owning a Chamelon....

    First welcome to the forum and your new addiction. Given the choice I would go with the older chameleon. Assuming that it is of good health. A well established older chameleon will have a greater survival rate and have a bit more allowance for mistakes during your learning curve.
