Hiya all. I have a 90x45x90 exo terra glass enclosure. I'm having an issue with heat.
It takes absolutely ages for it to get up to temp. His basking spot is high enough but the rest of the viv is not.
I can't turn the heat lamp up anymore or his basking spot will be way too hot and risk burns...
Excellent, I have set it back up now. It's better for the cham. A few folks on IG helped me. If it floods again I have a way to drain.
I get the feeling you never finish learning with a pet chameleon xD
Bahahaha, no that sounds rather wrong. But good to know xD
To be truthful I don't even own a drill, never mind a diamond drill part and for one hole I am not going to rush out and buy one. Do you have a photo of your siffon drainage system? I am intrigued.
Tbh I was clearly given terrible...
Hiya all.
Last night I had to dismantle my terrarium bioactive set up. Gutted to say the last.
As you can see from the photos, it completely flooded. I've had to discard all of the balls and substrate. It seems to me that I got supplied the wrong balls? Can anyone advise me on what to do?
I've...
That's a good idea. I was doing the same when I was feeding mine cricks (stopped cause they stink and he doesn't eat them). They cricks always went for the gutload over my cham.
Wow, that's incredible!!! I agree I probably could've got a set up cheaper but I just got it all at the same place. It really did cost me a damn fortune. I'm sure they saw me coming from a mile away. But, it's done now and I don't regret it but I know in future. T5 will be happening but first...
Thanks for this post! I have just purchased the bend a branch. Excellent.
Can anyone recommend any house plants/trees to get for my cham so he can play outside his viv? (Sorry to hijack the post).
They're so beautiful. I so wish I could take one of them on. But shipping them to the UK wouldn't be an option. I hope you find them amazing homes. Anyone would be lucky to have them.
Kudos for offering them for free, especially after the care you've put in for them.
It does worry me that...
They are. I have three probes that tell me the temps. It gradients down and across. I have it on a pulse controller as well so it never goes above a certain temperature. I'm happy with the set up and confident his temps are correct. The only bit I was not confident with was if it needed to have...
Hey, I have it hanging from a proper fixture above the mesh. The enclosure is massive and it is hooked up to a pulse temperature controller, so it never goes above the temp I've set. I also have 3 probes monitoring the heat for me. Eventually I am going to upgrade a few things such as his UVB...
Oki poki, thank you. It is a strong lamp but it keeps his temperature levels bang on all the way through the viv. I have it hanging slightly above his basking spot so it's not pressed onto the mesh. Seems to work well. It is a massive viv to be fair.
Hey guys.
I have the exoterra 90x45x90 aka, extra large extra tall.
I have only one heat lamp (ceramic 150w). Does anyone else have this enclosure? Would it be beneficial to have another heat lamp? So it's one on both sides of the enclosure? The temperature seems to gradient across the viv as...
Hahaha. I live in the UK so no where in my place that isnt the chams tank is never 28°c especially now it's coming to autumn. I suppose I could stick them under a lamp but to have one on 24/7 would be really expensive on electric.
I will not offer him anymore treats then. Sneaky boy, already...
Hey, he absolutely refuses to eat crickets. I have tried but he just won't have them. Which is a shame because they're much easier to come by. Dubia are not so easy to come by but I am going to go look for some on Thursday. Last time I went they only had absolutely huge ones, no good for a 5...
Thanks so much man. I have some calci worms on order. I have been giving him wax worms but I hear they're not great for them? I mean, he had them quite a lot last week.
I think I'll pop some hoppers in to free roam his viv, see if that helps.
Does he look dehydrated on the photos I posted? I...
So once in two weeks okay? I assumed the move and getting used to a new massive viv etc is what's causing his lack of appetite. His abdomen looks a bit rounded, could that be the lack of pooping? I'm new to husbandry so it's all very confusing to me because you see such mixed opinions and...
Chameleon Info:
