I've had a rain dome now for a while and love it. So nice to see him happy and not worry about how often I have time to mist him. It's set now for 3 x a day for 2 min. I had a problem with the large plant I had it over flooding so had to move it in between 2 plants so some leaves still get...
I used a 10 gallon glass enclosure with screen top for our pygmy. I had a layer of hydro balls - mesh - eco earth and planted pothos right into it. The pothos grew right up and around the vines. I don't think the substrate was more than 2-3 in tops. I misted it 2x a day and watered the plants 1x...
Double check and make sure you aren't looking at 24hr time vs 12. Mine came set to 24 hr and I did a double take! Maybe you can post a picture so I can see if it's the same one? I had a hard time with it at first, but I'm not mechanically inclined!
I got the timer from aquazamp when I bought the rain dome. I have it set 3x a day for 2 min. I have a panther so not sure of the hydration needs of a crested...
They have great customer service, so I wouldn't hesitate to contact them with questions!
Maybe the hand near the back made him feel threatened? I just put my hand under and in front and mine walks right on, but he's always been like that, just lucky I guess. My carpet cham never liked being handled, but if I needed him out, I would go about it the same way, from the front and under...
I toss the crickets in for him to hunt down, when we gets his various worms, he eats them from my hand. (I'd like to try the worms in a cup, but not sure what kind to try, I tried once and he got all bothered.)
When I moved my panther up to a larger enclosure 40in x 36in I had put in a 10.0, but then I read on a breeder's website to never use 10.0 on a chameleon so I switched back to 5.0. Starting to get confused again...
Our carpet cham was not a fan of being handled so we kept that to a minimum. Our Panther cham is another story! I guess I'm just lucky we got such a social guy, it's hard to get in his enclosure to do anything without him running up an arm or onto my head if I don't keep one eye on him. He has...
I used some press n seal wrap. When you press it along the frame it sticks pretty well. It's been keeping in the over spray from the rain dome pretty well so far.
Hello, I've noticed recently my panther cham with his mouth partially open at sometimes, not a lot and not like he would have it open in anger. Normal coloration and not all puffed up like he's ticked off. Usually as soon as he sees me he just closes it and comes over to investigate and/or come...
I agree with the above, we had a pygmy for a couple years and she did well with a 2.0 UVB bulb, no heat lamp. ( she was in a fully planted tank, that's really why we had the uvb ).
That's a great idea for the dowels! Wish I had seen that before doing the old dowel/tack trick. Even when I push the tacks in ahead of time, I still seem to damage the screen here and there. Oh, it hurts to see it happen!
Anyone you know have chickens? I know they love mealworms and phoenix worms and I'm pretty sure they eat both hornworms and silkworms. Our son's sitter has chickens and if I have to get rid of some, they chow them up.
So, I called the local reptile vet to touch base and of course they want me to make an appointment to meet them. I can understand wanting to see our cham and get a baseline on his overall health. Do any of you go to annual check ups or only on an as needed basis? Also, how do you transport...
I ordered the Rain Dome from Aquazamp, can't wait to get it! Most days we can mist him 3 x, but I will feel much better with something I can set for more. Hopefully I can get rid of the humidifier too...
