Thanks again everyone. :)
This one is blurry but I thought you'd enjoy it nonetheless. Here's Arya being my assistant while I worked last Friday. She walked all over the keyboard after her weighing (20.3g).
Update: She won't take food from my hand yet but she will take it if I use feeding...
The dripper sits on top of the cage, I've just moved it around hoping to avoid all the water ending up in the one plant, but apparently that's just where it ends up after it drips over the other plants etc in the cage... haha
I just wanted to see if this was something that would slowly kill...
I have 2 pothos plants at the bottom of my cham's cage in self watering pots. It seems like no matter where I place the dripper, the water always finds its way into the pothos on the right and floods it up to an inch or so above the soil. The plant is doing great, possibly even better than the...
It's true. I'm surprised I never got in trouble at that job. I was always telling people how wrong the caresheets were and directing people here for more info (and online for products) since I knew there was no way they'd remember my whole rant.
Do they only have the pre-bagged ones? Usually you can ask someone who works there to get you some, unless they are actually completely sold out.
Petco also sells Calciworms aka Phoenix Worms, which are a great feeder as long as they aren't too big. These are typically pretty small worms and...
I absolutely love my Dragon Strand cage. The breeder series cages have solid sides that really help keep humidity up, and they help keep water from getting on your walls and floors. I know that somebody from Dragon Strand is here on the forum, can't remember the username. Anybody know? You can...
My first cham was from a PetSmart, because I worked there and fell in love with the little guy. It stinks that they don't have better enclosures, but the amount of knowledge you can expect varies from location to location. I worked in three different locations and found that in those locations...
Check with Universities, either as class pets like mentioned above, or for breeding programs. My University back in Ohio had a pretty cool reptile breeding program, and they took animals in if they could be proven not to have parasites/diseases.
As far as I know that is fine. Just be sure she has good airflow like the member above said.
If I'm not mistaken this is also commonly done for females when they are laying eggs in order to give them much-needed privacy.
The above mentioned plants are great, especially pothos. It's a seriously tough plant and you can hang it so the vines drape down or let it climb upwards from the bottom.
Hibiscus is another great tree/shrub for chams, but they are more delicate than schefflera or ficus in my experience. You...
Have you tried dubias? I prefer using those to crickets and maybe having a bug with similar texture but a different shape would help.
Otherwise I would personally use superworms and calciworms/phoenix worms, mixing in a few crickets until she hopefully starts eating them again. I suggest...
It sounds like you put in a lot of research. :)
I think it looks better after your adjustments, and it's true pothos grows like crazy. Obviously you can assess towards the end of the month whether or not the pothos has filled out the top enough.
I bet you're excited for the cham!
I am not a houseplant expert, so could you let us know what types of plants you have in there? I think you could use a couple more bendy vines, and sticks are also great since they provide different sized perches (it gives them foot exercise). To me, the placement looks nice as long as the...
Here's a recent thread discussing issues that have been seen due to CFLs (compact fluorescent bulbs such as the one you currently use for UVB). There's some great information there.
https://www.chameleonforums.com/effects-cfls-143586/
This is specifically talking about CFLs used for UVB, but I...
Thanks again for the kind words. :)
I'm super excited to report that this girl is apparently nuts about black soldier fly larvae! I'm keeping track of what she eats daily and there has been a good upswing from her first few days. She is a big eater and slowly becoming less shy.
