My female wishes I was dead and my new male has only been here for a day and a half so I've been trying to leave him alone but the first time I took him out of his little deli cup he freaked and hissed and tried to throw himself off my hand to his death and tried to bite me.
I like their...
Some people here use wildcaught bugs if they live in areas where they feel it is safe. I won't be trying it any time soon because the area around my house is sprayed with pesticides yearly.
I wouldn't recomment letting the bugs come to the cham cage though. It's better to catch them yourself...
I mixed mine with about half play sand and half organic gardening soil. I'm not a plant person and learned afterwards that apparently I should have used coarser grain sand and POTTING soil not gardening soil but it's been a month and my plants are doing well.
How big was the clutch? That does seem like a lot. With females you have to be careful not to overfeed or they will lay more infertile clutches and larger clutches each time. It's a delicate balance between not feeding enough and overfeeding. I'm still trying to master the art. :)...
Haha, I edited my post before you quoted me, but same general idea. :) I mean, if it's not possible to move the chams and/or cats something should be done to definitely keep them off the top of the cage.
I'm not gonna say to get rid of the cats since you said not to and because I also have other pets so I understand but the cages aren't made to protect them from "outside threats". It's an enclosure for them, to keep them contained so they don't crawl away. The screen also isn't designed to hold...
I just dump crickets in there. She finds them all, they tend to crawl towards the basking light. Worms not so much, I've only fed supers so far but I keep them in a cup and offer them (holding the cup) or stick one on the vine. They tend to fall to the bottom. I've fed roaches a handful of...
My chameleon is awake a little before her light goes on and a little before her lights go off. The room she is in gets a lot of natural light so she seems to go more by the ambient light. Because of the foliage in the cage, there are some dark spots that she can go to to sleep
So long as your...
I've fed them greens, carrots, and bug bread, the reciple for which I got from sandrachameleons blog (did it a little differently. just kindof used what I had). They ate all of it. Haven't gotten a chance to try anything else yet.
Thanks for the update, I was actually thinking of bumping this thread and asking how she is doing. Let us know how she progresses. It's good to see that you are taking such good care of her.
What does he eat other than the mealworms? They can be healthy without crickets but a diet of mainly mealworms wouldn't be good... Have you tried withholding food altogether for a few days and then offering him only crickets when you know he's super hungry?
There are others here that have...
I think they can be a "staple" or main feeder, and are very nutritious. But, like others said, crickets and roaches are gutloadable with a variety of things and they keep the chams poops from being too runnny.
You could completely substitute crickets with roaches, if you're ok with that. I got...
I've seen some people here using a cool mist humidifier, I think you can get them from walmart. The misty air comes out of a spout and you can set it up beside the cage and direct it where you want it. You can also try to enclose 2-3 sides of the cage with a shower curtain (Yes, this does to...
Whether or not to filter/buy water depends on your water quality where you live. If you're not sure, a water filter won't hurt and wouldn't be a waste or anything since you can also use it for yourself :)
Usually I use room temp. water because I'm getting a mist system and I don't want to spoil...
Cup feeding is good, or he might get the hang of it. I heavily packed my chams cage with foliage and for the first few feedings she didn't seem to know to look around for her feeders and I would find them hiding in the plants. After a few feedings she figured it out and now chases them and finds...
If he starts going to bed earlier and earlier I'd say it might be weird but it could just be daylight savings or he just needs some sleep, haha. Priscilla always goes to sleep like 1/2 hour or so before the lights go off, as the ambient light gets less (her lights go off around the time it gets...

This is happening on march 27th. Some of the site sponsors will be there selling chameleons. I'm picking up a Cham from screameleons that I pre-ordered from them. I think it's the same people organizing it as the one in white plains.
