It's nice to see someone else into viv building and PDFs. I'm in the middle of converting a spare 90g to a viv for half dozen P. terribilis "Mint". The progress slowed down quite a bit when the babies came, though.
Looking forward to seeing more of your progress :)
Cute little Corn! It's much safer for the snake if you do not handle it for a day or so after it eats. You can cause some serious internal injury and/or regurgitation (which is a lot more serious than "just throwing up").
That's not funny, Jann!! I don't want to keep any of them, but I'm sure I will :D
A lot of them are already spoken for, and I have a pretty good ratio of males to females.. looks like. I just have a lot on my plate and having a zoo, someone ends up being unfairly restricted due to someone...
I set the little tyrants up with a big ficus and a bigger hibiscus, within a pvc frame "cage". They seem to be behaving a tiny bit better, with more space. The girls are definitely more aggressive than the boys.. but the boys have their moments! :)
They are very aggressive with each other, but whenever I'm near, they stand up and hold their little mitts up to climb me. They just want to be on the highest point (it's instinctual), but it's really endearing. So, she probably climbed on my arm when I was close enough and just kept going. :)
I put them on the F. benjamina while I do housecleaning, so I decided to get a few shots this morning. :)
I think this is a girl..
..and a little fiesty boy?
Quite a few of the whole gang. They were trying to figure out how to get to the taller F. lyrata (Fiddle Leaf Fig)...
I was just reading a thread declaring them as "most aggressive of the Panthers" ..and watching my babies, I'm leaning that way. LOL! They have plenty of space to stay clear of each other, but if one passes by another.. the one there first goes into territorial fury.. biting and pushing and...
Is it normal for them to be so aggressive with each other? I have 13 Nosy Be babies in a 40g'ish size rubbermaid, with plenty of climbing stuff at all levels ...and they still scrap and tussle all day long!
Should I go ahead and separate some of them?
I thought they'd, at least, be...
Being in TX, it's probably a juvenile TX Rat ..but it looks just like some juvenile Black Rats, too. It was just hungry and thought it hit the biggest buffet in history! :D
I raise rats for my smaller/younger snakes, on occasion ...and I have a pet rat named, Ducati. She's a riot! She's super...
We're still waiting on the last 3 eggs to hatch. They've pipped, but the babies are taking their sweet time. The other 13 little hellcats are eating, drinking, going poopy, and fighting! They are scrappy little tyrants, for sure! It's hilarious to watch them gape and flash their little dewlaps...
Congratulations on your new baby! :)
I have 13 (still waiting on the last 3 to hatch) little ones. I pretty much studied all of jannb's blogs, for the duration of their incubation time... and found it all very helpful!
The babies are so much fun to watch!
