I'm right there with you. Ive attempted to free roam the crickets and while he does eat a few - its nearly not within the normal limits of what is suggested (15-20 a day). He might grab like 5 a day from the foliage.
So I've attempted cup feeding, taking the tips for a good feeder cup from...
What if your babies don't want to eat 15-20 crix a day? I've let mine free roam for the 3 weeks I've had them. All crix are accessible, while trying to hide, if he wanted to search for them he could easily find them. 5 of them normally stand next to him while he basks...but he doesnt always...
Will definitely look into that. Wouldnt happen to know the cause of the parasites in the first place? Do they just come...or is it a husbandry mistake that affected his health to cause them?
Javsto - I was under the impression that my Cham would go for dead crickets because there is no movement in them...
The dots were there from the get go, when he gets hissy he gets a black tiger stripped looking pattern across his body that do blend with the current black dots on him, but any...
Thanks, I think Waldo would make do with 1/4" and if there is a 1/2" in there i dont see it being a problem. I've seen him chomp a few larger then 1/4" crix down, but I'd rather make the dinner enjoyable for him. I bought from the local petstore and while most were the smaller size i was...
I doubt it is dirt, not really dirt or dirty in his cage. he's had the spots since I received him at 4 weeks old on Feb 24th 2011. He was guaranteed a healthy cham on arrival and 3 days after. I sure hope its nothing
I used all that came with the veiled cham package I bought, figured the moss was included it was okay, until I posted on here a problem and pics and was told to rid of it quickly. i did, it takes away from a lot of the look, but for a happy healthy cham, thats a sacrifice I'm definitely willing...
its tempting, but Im not that mean. I try hard to keep my yard nice and it was advised not to set them free in my own because they become pest and eat away a lot of grass...could imagine how quickly a nice green yard in Texas would disappear with 500 crickets crawling through it....the time...
I never did one of these, and I feel as if I should have rather then barge into the forums asking for help without letting anybody know about myself. This site has been of great help and possibly saved me from grief as I was following directions for an adult Cham rather than a young baby. So...
I picked out about 5 good small guys, the rest were set free into my annoying neighbors house 7 houses down. Not really, but I thought about it...the rest were set free into an open field fixing to get plowed for housing. LLL was contacted, sincere apologies and a new shipment coming tomorrow...
I just ordered 250 1/4" crickets from LLL and received them a few seconds ago. They seem a lot bigger then what I had imagined (picture comparison on their site) The shipping receipt has Crickets 34500 as a description with 3/4 500 next to it.
Anybody order crix from them before, does this...
Thanks Ryan, I assume thats your name since its mine and everyone calls me Rhyno. I'll have a look for the thread and am thinking maybe the garage is a good place for them to be kept at, or atleast the laundry room since temperatures in the garage may reach well over 100 when summer hits
So I've drawn up another diagram, this time adding a small storage space below for things such as calcium, multi-vitamins, my duster cup and etc. That and I really didnt need a 1.5' foot space for a drainage drawer, if that much water drains out of this cage from my auto mister set at 1 minute...
and as a random question for this topic.
Crickets that feed on fruit that has become moldy, is it safe to say that those crickets should be tossed out....
I had a few oranges that had grown some white fuzz on them after a day and a half and there were crickets still eating it. I decided...
I apologize for the wrong forum....thought i was in the other one...
The receipt has 0$ shipping, which I had just noticed. Not sure if that is correct or not, but if so thats outstanding being it is overnight (should ship tomorrow and receive thursday) It was 250$ for 24$, which price per...
Just ordered a 250 count of 1/4" feeder crickets from LLL. Got to say, I am already feeling more comfortable with these crickets then the store boughts from petco or the local pet shop. The description of the feeders is outstanding and having bought my Cham and its startup kit from them, I...
I've got the same problem, one or two will hand out on a vine in the basking area and they disappear very quickly, right into waldo's mouth. but the others really enjoy the UV light and a few leaves right under it, they hide high and well there and are living a pretty safe life right now...
