Can I hang a pothos from the top or like make a small shelf for it in the enclosure? I was worried it would not provide enough cover for the cham?
I was thinking of using a small ficus or hibiscus, and then use a small pothos as well for additional vines? I think two plants would be best...
I will check out frys today, but a 4' would not fit in my 3.5' cage so I will need to see what I can find.
The dimensions of my enclosure are 42"H X 36"W X 24"Depth
I just picked up 8 wood posts for my new enclosure, what is the best way to treat it? I asked the guy at HD but he seemed clueless.
What would be the best protectent for the wood since I will be misting? Can I just paint the wood or do I need to seal it too or what?
I bought some black...
A layer of rocks would work great, I bought a bag of smooth black rocks at a craft store for $4, it had enough rocks to cover all the dirt, but the crix still managed to get under the rocks so keep an eye out if you are not cup feeding.
There is no need for substrate at the bottom take everything out and just use butcers paper or paper towels.
The chameleon can become impacted and suffer health problems if he eats more substrate.
I am wondering what would be a good colorful flowering plant that I could use in my enclosure?
I know hisbuscis has floweres, but arent those hard to bloom with only the ubv light alone? I have an extra regular 24" flourescent bulb from my fish tank I could use if that would help?
I like the idea of using the tub as a base, I might just try and find one that is the dimensions of my enclosure, or build to size, and use screen on the bottom, but place the tub on the bottom with holes for drainage, I will just place a tub underneath.
I was actually going to use 2x2 posts, since they are studier they should hold up better?
HD and Lowes bother have 4-5 different types of wood posts for the size I need, I am just trying to save money and the redwood are the cheapest.
Even if I treat the wood? I can't imagine my chameleon would me eating the wood, so would I need to worry?
The red wood posts are $3, but the next ones are $7 a piece.
I found redwood posts 2x2x8' for $3 a piece at home depot, would these be suitable for building a wood frame for my enclosure?
I have never worked with redwood posts so I was not sure how well it would work.
Also, for connecting the pieces together, I assume angle irons or mending plates...
