I used push pins on some but I mainly used fishing line. If they were small enough, I just wrapped it around and tied on the outside, or drilled small hole in the end of the stick or vines and put the fishing line thru that and tie on the outside. Time consuming, yes, and hard to get plants in...
My male veiled chameleon did the same thing, the older he got, probably around the same age (5-6 months or so) the more he wanted to come out of his cage.. everyday. And, like you, I've read many things stating that they are not to be held, as that can stress them out. But just imagine being...
Thanks for your ideas SocialNumb! I'm definitely going to have to try something different, maybe I'll try that! Wish me luck! Lol The plant I need to change the soil is blocked in with the extra sticks I've placed in his cage. Guess I'll have to do some rearranging!
I need some insight into the correct soil for an umbrella plant (Shefflerra).. I thought I wasn't suppose to use a miracle grow type of soil, that is readily available at any store, for the plant I keep in my chameleon's enclosure. So, for me, this means Organic soil is my best bet!? I...
Plant update
So instead of waiting for my plant to slowly dry out, I decided to take action. I couldn't just sit and wait for it to get better, so I drilled a small hole at the bottom and out came so much STINKY STINKY water!! It drained for about an hour and I'm sure it'll drain some more...
Thank you! He really likes it! Though he still tries to find more areas to explore.. Thinking about adding to it in length, but not sure if the hubby would go for it. I was surprised that he didn't mind me using his horns as Zeus's free range area! :). When I open the door to his cage, it...
I just open his cage door and it touches the elk horns and he likes to climb out on his door and get on them. So I hooked him up with a way back and forth. He loves coming out everyday! I let him out for about 2hrs at a time per day bcuz I don't have any lights out there for him. I just open all...
The heat lamp I currently use is a 75watt and there are branches/leaves that are all but touching it.. and of course they are the ones doing great! Do you think I should add light towards the bottom, it is quite dark down there unless I am at home with the windows open. And also, I am going to...
This is my set up. The left side use to have about 6 or so branches. It's now down to one or two that are hanging on their last little bit of life they have. It use to be fuller on that side of the plant. Hopefully I caught it soon enough!
Here is a pic of the bottom of the plant. The leaves are brown and wilting... further observation, the soil is very wet! :/ and there re fruit flies and even tiny little worms which I'm guessing is their larva...*sigh*
I just tried the hydrogen peroxide mix. I did 4:1 water: hydrogen peroxide...
The roots are not rotting yet, but the soil is definitely too wet!! It does smell a little. And I have worried that there isn't enough light on the lower half of the plant, which is the half that is currently dying.. :( The top half is doing great.
