    color changing??

Color changes are normal. They are chameleons after all :) Biggest things to watch out for are darker colors which are typical in stressful situations (which could've been why your Cham showed stripes) however, they also show dark colors while basking which is them absorbing heat. As they get...

    New and just saying hello

Welcome to the forum! Your Cham is cute :) I agree with the other members, the red light will keep her up all night. Once her lights shut off, you want to keep her in complete darkness. Best of luck with your Cham :)

    My "Sunfire" male... Lucky L..

He's gorgeous! It's so amazing to see how much they change. Just in the 4 months that we've had our panther, he's completely changed colors. He started off dark green with green bars. That's him in my avatar. They are unbelievable animals :)

Jackson's Chameleon inactive bottom of cage, pale in color

RIP Steve...Don't get discouraged, unfortunately these things happen. Chams are very fragile and so many people don't realize. I'm glad you found the forum because as most of us have found, most (not all) pet stores are just trying to sell the animal, they don't have very much experience. I wish...

    My chameleon is feisty!

I definitely wouldn't force him out. It'll create the image that your hand is a bad thing. Try associating your hand and coming out of the cage with positive things. We hand feed and anytime he comes out of the cage, he's benefiting (going outside, on his free range, or in the shower which he...

    Jailbreak (please help!)

Sorry to hear about your Cham. They are definitely escape artists if given the chance. It's honestly one of my fears since I let mine out on his free range during the day. I really don't know what to tell you, other than try to find places that he could climb (which I'm sure you've already...

Jackson's Chameleon inactive bottom of cage, pale in color

Sorry to hear about your Cham. You came to the right place for help. I agree with the other members about not leaving the lights off. Your Cham needs heat. My lights are on a timer 12 hours on, 12 hours of complete darkness. No heat lamp or anything. Chams are ok to take a temp drop at night...

    This time tomorrow...

How exciting!! I wouldn't be able to sleep the night before. Can't wait to see pics :)

    handeling my chameleon :s

To be honest, I see no problem handling the Cham as long as they climb on your hand willingly. We associate our hand with food, which is how we got our Cham to be so comfortable with being held. Now all we do is walk up to the cage and he comes right to the front and climbs right out :)

    Name this guy!

My vote is for Typhoon :)

    waxworms??

I'm pretty sure you can put them in the fridge...I would try getting a small amount to try them out. We ended up getting 25 the other day and my cham isn't interested in them. He tried one and that was enough for him. He's so picky.

    hybrid chameleons

I'm pretty sure it's impossible...don't Jacksons have live births? And Panthers lay eggs.

Would a school presentation be too stressful?

I think it's a good idea...people are always so interested to hear about my cham. Just be sure to stress the fact that they are a pet that requires a lot of time and money. After seeing mine, a friend thought it would be a good idea to buy his five year old one...after I told him the price of...

Nail ripped out :( Not using that leg

So sorry so hear about your cham! But so glad you took him to the vet before anything worse happened. Best of luck to your little guy :)

    Shedding

Mine gets cranky and even stops eating right before and during his shed.

    Changing Colors

Darker colors are usually signs of stress. If he's doing it up on his basking vine, it's him absorbing heat. They will turn dark colors and mine even bulges his throat a little when he's basking. If he's doing it in the middle of the cage or when he's not basking, there may be something in the...

    veiled chameleon hissing

I would suggest associating your hand with food...teach him that when your hand comes in the cage, he's going to get something in return. It took a good 2 months to get my cham completely comfortable with handling, but now I can walk up the cage and he comes right to the front and climbs onto my...

    rescue cham, please help!

That's awesome that you saved him :) I'm pretty sure the best thing to do right now is making sure he drinks...people have suggested Gatorade or pedyalite(I think that's how you spell it) best of luck with him, and as the other member suggested, please keep us updated :)

    veiled being picky

My cham won't touch dubias either...we use super worms, which aren't the best because they are so high in fat...but he's such a picky eater. We got horn worms the other day and he's eaten 3. It's like pulling teeth, but my boyfriend seems to trick him into eating them.
