Feeding chameleon worms for a month

I'm leaving for 10 days and crickets are necessary, so am trying to make it as easy for the "chameleon sitter" as possible. I'm going to make up cricket gutload packets (super gutload powder, bee pollen) and some frozen gutload puree in chunks in the freezer. I'll also chop up a bunch of fresh...

    Is this normal??

Forum humor....don't worry, I asked the same question awhile back. The puffy throat is a normal thing...

    Posting my silkworm experience

wow! Hope your chams are hungry :) I'm looking forward to the next installment of this saga. I have just 2 cocoons (maybe a third soon)...I'll await emergence in about 8-9 weeks (?) Room temp storage ok? Thx for your patience with any repetitious questions..

Well, she did it. She finally killed him.

My partner positively dotes on Pete. He's a doter. Hasn't warmed up to the silkies yet, but its only a matter of time.

post 6 mos. feedings: frequency & amounts?

OK, makes sense. As soon as I can get a good photo of my reclusive guy I am going to ask for age estimates...not really sure how old he is.

    Posting my silkworm experience

What a great thread - thanks to everyone who contributed! So, once the moths emerge (and, do they always need help?) do they stay in the lined bin and mate (hopefully) right there? After that, you collect the eggs and chill until you (or they) are ready? Feed off the moths? (Thats gonna suck-...

post 6 mos. feedings: frequency & amounts?

Hm, I'm confused. This is from the care sheet for Veileds on this site: Neonates: as many small crickets as they can eat several times a day Juveniles 3-6 months of age: 10-12 small crickets daily Juveniles 6-12 months of age: 10-12 medium crickets every other day Adults over 12 months of age...

post 6 mos. feedings: frequency & amounts?

Hi guys - my veiled male Pete is hitting the approx. 6 mos old mark. I've read and heard said that feedings should go to every other day now. Wondering why skip a day, rather than just cutting quantity in half and continuing to feed every day? ( I'm feeding dusted gutloaded crickets, silkies...

    Cage

Hi. You can buy screen patch kits at any hardware store. Not expensive. Search "cage setup" on this site for lots of threads on how to create an ideal environment for your chameleon. Also check out the care sheets for your veiled to confirm you are using the correct lighting, temps, humidity...

Ahh! Thought it had remained white since arriving 2 weeks ago- but must've been a different bug altogether. Thanks for the enlightenment. I shall feed off this morning :)

Hmmm..... mulberry poptarts :P Yeah, I'm down to 3 big worms and out of crickets....may have to raid the BSFL and super(armored)worm stashes...BTW, I was gifted a pure WHITE dubia in my last order. Bigger than the rest of the nymphs. Is this an archangel dubia, perchance? I'ma def order some...

I bought feeders from rainbowmealworms.com. Along with the chow. Been reading up on starting a colony..think I'll try that soon. Pro Tip: be careful to NOT burn the chow in the microwave. Good god, the smell...

Where does their poop go? :(

The idea appeals...I'm into plants, so keeping the cage over a large planter makes total sense to me. Bugs? As long as its not cockroaches or giant centipedes I'm cool with bugs. I enjoyed reading your blog and your site looks great (I'm a designer ;) What are the "key considerations" you...

Chameleon just took a bite out of his plant....

yeah, I have noticed it takes awhile for my little guy to "accept change" lol.... he'll eventually eat a hornworm, then go off and digest awhile before coming back for the silkworm...and just when you think you've got them pegged they change it up.

Raise food vs. buying food or a little of both

yeah, I'm wondering what kind of snails and where to find 'em? The ones I've found online are very big (*crrunch) ....wondering how that would work. Also, don't suppose I can feed the ones breeding in my aquariums?
