There's no real way to disinfect a branch from a living tree. You can wash it, scrub it with dish soap or Fluker's, even dip it in a diluted bleach bath (and rinse the heck out of it after) or boil it for 10-15 minutes. Ultimately, it might be safer to get some branches from the floral section...
One possibility: I used metal screening on the floor of my enclosure. It sits on a plastic shelf with holes in it (which supports the weight of my large potted schefflera. Water drains directly thru to a bin below. Maybe you can use this approach somehow.
I needed a way to hang my heat bulb, and didn't want to drill holes on the ceiling or wall. I got a wrought iron banner hanger from Ace Hardware, and extended the pole height by adding on an old standing lamp base. Hard to visualize, I realize. But you can rig something up like this without too...
I'm relatively new to cham husbandry, but I can see he is dehydrated. You can induce him to drink by putting him in the shower/sink and indirectly spraying water against the side of the tub/sink so it bounces off towards him. Water will accumulate on his head, drip off his snout and encourage...

We had a hammer and tongs just for centipedes. A few whacks with the hammer, and tongs to get it into the toilet. TWO flushes. They are a fact of life there...and they get big. BIG. You can hear them coming.
