    Black area on head

OK, no shed aid, another over-zealous wasted product. Always happens when shopping for a new pet - you just grab everything that you MIGHT need or want someday! I'm still working on getting her to learn to trust me so am not in a hurry to touch her head yet, but at the store when me and the...

Thinking of rescuing this guy . . .

THIS is the lighting, that's why I'm shocked we don't see signs of terrible MBD.

Location of insect feeder in habitat?

Thanks, I'll pick up a bird feeder and hang that, too so she has options. Hearing the roaches are nocturnal and hide from light explains a lot - I guess they're playing dead when I was starting to think they actually all WERE dead!

Thinking of rescuing this guy . . .

Thanks. Here is the photo that he has posted in his "for sale" ad. Obviously you can't see the eye very well but how sad and pathetic is that set up? It's what makes me want to go get him NOW.

Thinking of rescuing this guy . . .

Someone on the Facebook Chameleon Forum alerted me to this "For Sale" chameleon asking if anyone could please rescue it and give it a better home. I've tried communicating with the current owner and he doesn't know much about the chameleon, "thinks" it's a male, and thinks it's about 2 years...

    Black area on head

Thanks, I didn't think it was a burn but now I have to wonder how the head got injured - guess I'll never know but it hasn't changed at all since I've had her. Regarding the shed, I have ZooMed's "Shedding Aid" that I bought when I was originally shopping for my new pet. Have never opened...

    Black area on head

It amazes me that I've had this female veiled for about 3 weeks now and haven't thought to ask this question yet.... guess I've been so consumed with setting up the proper environment I forgot about it. :( Any ideas what this black area is on her head? When I purchased her it was...

    Taming a youngin'

Thanks, off to read the blog now. I would be honored and thrilled to become "tolerable" to my chameleon. LOL

    Taming a youngin'

Hi again. Need some advice on how to train my female veiled to be a little more receptive to my hand in the event I need to take her to the vet and would also like to be able to take her outside during the spring and summer. I'm guessing she's about 3 months old (about 6 inches long from nose...

Location of insect feeder in habitat?

Thanks, guys. I think I'll go pick up some crickets to get things moving in there. Perhaps once she realizes this is the place for food she'll even go after the flow-moving dubias, but right now she needs something to attract her attention. I think I'll move it up higher, for now, and hope...

Location of insect feeder in habitat?

I recently purchased a feeder on Etsy from Sticky Tongue and I think it's great, but I'm not sure where in the enclosure to have it. The instructions said to put it lower than where the chameleon usually hangs out and I did, and the first day he seemed to spot some movement and went to it to...

    Eggs for sale

Listened to it yesterday - some very good points were made, listed the pros and cons, represented both sides fairly - very impressive discussion! Sue

Solarmeter Model 6.5R still the recommended one?

As Klyde, said, I'm not sure how we would ensure that we were both measuring the same thing so that you could determine how well that unit works. If you have any ideas, I'd be happy to try once mine arrives. Sue

The feeding process.... from keeper to cage

Excellent! Bye Bye Crickets! Well, that is if the chammy takes to the dubia roaches. But he/she isn't really a huge fan of the crickets anyway so hopefully . . . 🤞

The feeding process.... from keeper to cage

EXCELLENT TIMING on that post because I was just reading and watching videos about dubia roaches, how to care for, how to keep, nutritional benefits/deficiencies, etc. And my question to this forum was going to be (if I couldn't find the answer myself elsewhere) is why do I need to even bother...

Solarmeter Model 6.5R still the recommended one?

Yeah.... no. I'll spend the money.... I love a challenge but that type of DIY doesn't call to me at all.

Solarmeter Model 6.5R still the recommended one?

Hi again. Just got my young veiled (probably female) about 3 weeks ago and have been looking online for a used solar meter. However, they seem to be very hard to come by so I'm going to bite the bullet and purchase a new one. Is this the model that is still the most recommended or has...

Carnivorous plants in habitat - good or bad?

You sure do like to confuse me, don't you!? Now I don't know if I should buy her a dress or slacks, or both? Oh.... wait......I'm showing my age.... gender doesn't really determine that anymore, does it.

Carnivorous plants in habitat - good or bad?

Thanks, did that a while back in a separate thread, popular consensus was "female" but some saw a questionable possible spur, too. I had her out today and looked closely..... I'm now 99% female. So.... time to rethink my landscaping. Would she prefer to use the bioactive substrate or would...
