    battling an eye infection

John, I'm so sorry about your little cham....losing pets is so hard. I know we lost a dog, hamster and gecko in about three months and we were all (esp my kids) so depressed. Definitely talk to the breeder; if nothing else, they may be able to shed some light on what happened. Hang in...

    D3 in babies?

I don't actually have a UVB light on my tank. I have a daylight compact flourescent, mostly for the plants. I'm not sure of the value of UV light on the brevs, since they're undergrowth kind of guys; but I still think the Vit D3 could be too much, even without UVB. Am I right? I'll have to...

    Leaf chameleon enclosures

Thanks, guys...I have to admit, it's not the first tank I've made, just the first one for brevs. I made a partitioned newt tank, where I used the packing peanuts on the land side, and a 10g frog tank w/packing peanuts too. I did use egg crate in the 29g high for the White's tree frog, b/c I...

    Leaf chameleon enclosures

I am SO not an expert....but thought I'd show you what I did. It mostly goes along with Roo's article suggestions for a brev tank...although it's a 10g. I have three young brevs in there (2 males). I did use styrofoam packing peanuts as the bottom drainage layer, b/c I can't find hydroton...

    D3 in babies?

Having followed some of the recent threads, I'm worried that my 3 month old brevs have been getting too much Vitamin D3. I have repcal with D3 (no phosphorus), and I've been dusting the crickets most of the feedings. About once a week i also dust with Herptivite. Do I need to back off....are...

    Very dark brev?

Luna, I posted some pics in the gallery of the babies yesterday. Yeah, I would think Stripe is developing more quickly, but then Heika told me that the only time she witnessed aggression between two male brevs (WC), the one that wa aggressive turned yellow, and the underdog was very dark...

    Very dark brev?

Could it be puberty? Looking at Stripe this morning....I noticed that his hemipenile area at the base of his tail is gowing. The other male does not have this sign of maturity yet....could this explain Stripe's dramatic coloring? Could he become more aggressive toward "Dot" (the other male)?

    Very dark brev?

Scrappy and Luna, :D Thanks for replying. You may be right, Scrappy; he might just be stressed. I fed them shortly after posting yesterday, and "Stripe" nabbed two crickets right off the bat, so it's not affecting his appetite! He looks kind of baggy, which is strange. Somebody molted...

    Very dark brev?

I changed out the enclosure for my three little brevs. They're about three months old now; the female is 1 3/4", the males are both 1 1/2" long. I had them in a critter keeper, but three days ago I cleaned out my daughter's 2 1/2g guppy tank (a little bowfront) and switched them into it. A...

    Bad accident

Brandi those pics are GREAT! :p Now I know not to panic the first time one of my babies falls....sort of like not panicking when your crab moults, and you find an apparently dead body lying in the tank....

    Bad accident

I didn't know the brevs could play dead....I was desperately hoping my first one was, though. But when she turned black and white and got stiff, I gave up hoping. My guys do great curled leaf imitations, though....but they are still hanging onto branches when they do them. Heika, I love the...

    salmonilla?

I didn't know you could get salmonella from a cat...toxoplasmosis, I knew cats carried. I had a nice long conversation about salmonella with a nurse from my county health dept. a few weeks ago, because I came up with a positive culture, and we were trying to figure out where I got it. The...

    Bad accident

Is it only the old-world chams that have the spidey sense? I'm curious about my little brevs. I haven't seen one fall yet, but sometimes, when they're on the trail of a cricket, they don't use the best judgement on which stems might support them, or how long their reach is....Of course, they...
