If I was living out in the wild I'm sure I wouldn't be able to find a box of Cheez-Its, but I'm sure I could live off them just fine.
Dammit, now I want some Cheez-Its.
She's eating 50 crickets a week? What size crickets? She looks puffed up in the pictures, yet her tail and arms don't look healthy to me. Is she getting enough nutrition?
My camera has a LITTLE bit of trouble focusing on chameleon nails, and Rygel of course has difficulty sitting still for this. Hopefully these will suffice.
Basically he has little sharp tips on the end of his "fingers" but nothing I'd call a "claw". There are little tips though, so it...
Hey folks,
As my Panther chameleon grows into adulthood (he's currently 10 months) I've noticed that his claws don't seem to be very developed.
I've examined his feet, and he definitely has claws, but they're very small. They're almost like fingernails instead of true claws.
Is this...
Rain48, I applaud your decision. I hope the petstore doesn't give you any problems.
If you REALLY want to get a chameleon, I can't recommend this site high enough. They will send you a complete package with EVERYTHING you need to take care of your chameleon, including care sheets and all...
My Jacksons ate a penny once.
I had him out of his cage, and I was just sort of amusingly watch him explore the room, he seemed to be enjoying himself. Then suddenly he noticed a penny on the carpet, and just zapped it.
Fortunately it was too large for him to even come close to...
I kept an eye on him each time I did it. Mostly because I didn't want him to leave the wasp alone, thinking the wasp might sting him while he was basking or sleeping.
The wasps died so quickly after being captured by that tongue there's no way they could have stung him. Technically I guess he...
Looks like a nice cage, definitely snap it up. If the top is screen, that'll be really perfect.
Honestly I don't think you'll have any issue with the SIDES, it's the BOTTOM I'd be concerned about. If it was made for snakes before it probably wasn't built with drainage of excess water in...
He's looking incredible!
Have you noticed that the red patterns on his face almost look like the old flag of Japan with the rays of the sun coming from his eyes? It looks really gorgeous, I don't think I've seen that pattern before!
I love your enclosure, I've been thinking about...
I fed my Jacksons a bunch of wasps when I had a bit of an invasion of my apartment that lasted a few days. Seems like everyday I found a wasp buzzing around in my windows.... which promptly was trapped by a cup (when possible) and then tossed into the cage. Evidently they were tasty, my...
Soooo....
Rygel is back on worms. He ignored crickets for 3 days in a row, he's nowhere near a shed, and he's been doing a good job gaining a little weight and I didn't want to lose that progress. Unfortunately the petstore near me was out of superworms and all I could get him were some...
You know you love your animal when you're making "bug juice". Whew gross. Hope I never have to do this. :(
Good luck to you bunnygirl. I echo those telling you to get a 2nd vet's opinion.
I've used several different screen cages over the years... this type was my least favorite.
First of all the screen obscures your beautiful animal. You have to be right next to the screen to see him. It's ugly.
Second the screen mesh eventually decays. You end up with little loose bits...
Keeping humidity up for a Jacksons is always going to be difficult, depending on where you live.
I'd keep your chameleon on fruit flies and mealworms. Try houseflies if you can get them, you can order cultures online, they're great for young chams. Make sure you supplement the mealworms...
I'm really sorry they were too much for you, I know it must have been hard to give them up.
Jacksons are really great chameleons, but having two of them suddenly thrust on top of you when you already have a lot of other pets and such can be a bit much.
Maybe you'll decide to get a Jacksons...
