Aw @jajeanpierre I'm so sorry... That's just awful. I feel honored to have one of his offspring that carries those gorgeous blues. He really was remarkable - it was photos of him that got me hooked on the species in the first place!:(
TQ Gracilior, nearly 1 year old. Out on the prowl, showing off that manicure! The sun makes the red look a little pink, but trust me, they are beautiful.
Thanks!! And yeah those nails in the last pic are AWESOME! I was so bummed I missed getting more of them in the shot. I wasn't really looking at the screen when I clicked haha
Oh and I'm obsessed with his dorsal crest, sail fin, and the incredible texture of his scales... That is why there is a little collage of the closeups :ROFLMAO:
68 grams today! And almost 1 year old (at the beginning of Feb). He is more comfortable with me now in that he doesn't death grip me anymore unless something else startles him. I still have to lure Olivander out with tasty treats, and his reach is getting a LOT longer! Here are a few shots from...
I agree with what they are all saying about positioning. I also cut up a clear plastic shower curtain and attached it to the outside of the screen on three sides. This way, the humidity stays high, and if the nozzles get knocked out of place, it isn't a big deal. Shower curtains are cheap, easy...
I put his feeding cup towards the front so I could try to get some shots. @jajeanpierre these are his excited colors.... He is getting a little more yellow here and there, but not a ton. Either way, still cool!
And just check out those nails!!!
I know, I love it! He is just so handsome haha No yellows on the cheeks... just those few angry splotches above the shoulder that one day. The closest he gets to yellow is a light green, but it still isn't really yellow.
@jajeanpierre I'd be ok sending him back to you for breeding - you're...
The only time I have seen any yellow on him is those few splotches when he was stressed. He pretty much shifts between various greens and blues! I keep trying to get a good full body shot, but he is just not cooperating. As soon as I get some more pics, I'll post them!
Oh my, he is just beautiful. I love those few scales on the front of his casque that look like glowing jewels!!! I'm glad he and his brother are about the same weight.... Makes me feel like I'm doing good! Everyone says I am, but I really just let the misting and lights go, feed him, and let him...
I love your guy's name! The yellow and gold is super cool looking, but I am just obsessed with the blues. And you aren't kidding about that killer grip! When he is comfortable-ish it is pretty strong, but when he gets stressed and tightens up, it is hard to believe something that small can be so...
This thread is pretty much becoming my journal for Olivander's progress, so even if no one else is interested in this update, I need it for the numbers (I always forget to write the weight down). He is just about 10 months old and weighing in at 62 grams! No pictures today... my hands were full...
The plants in my nice big enclosure have been struggling. Over the past few months, the crotons and the creeping ficus have been dropping leaves despite looking completely healthy. Being in a montane enclosure, they get plenty of water/humidity, and I use an arcadia UVB light (it's pretty...
Oh and I have to add that holy crap he is strong!! At first his grip was normal, but when I brought him across the room he tightened up all over. It was intense! I feel bad I stressed him but I am glad he is so healthy. Had he been a bit more relaxed I would have tried to weigh him.... He wasn't...
