I know this is anecdotal, but I kept 3 poison dart frogs for 10 years and never sterilized plants in their enclosure. Frogs are much more vulnerable to environmental toxins than chameleons because of their skin.
I'm finishing up the design for my custom enclosure for a panther and really want to keep it simple. Is there any reason why I can't have my Mistking go off for about 60 seconds several times a day for drinking, in lieu of a dripper? It's a very large enclosure with lots of plants and good...
100% agree with everything you said. Well done. I'm on team Dubia. Escapees won't reproduce unless you live in the tropics and even then, it's unlikely.
Can anyone tell me how I can simultaneously prevent too much UVB for screen climbers and keep the right UVB level at the highest branch? Do I have to keep the top roof screen right up against the top branch and then raise the light 5-7 inches over that screen?
I wouldn't get one. I used a fogger for my dart frog for 10 years and it's a major pain to always refill it. I mister is more efficient because it uses less water and also acts as a source of drinking water.
Both the foam and the caulk are safe as long as they cure first. I had a dart frog in my foam/caulked enclosure and they're much more sensitive than chameleons.
Low 70's is too cool but I wouldn't fret over a few degrees being off. In other words, if it's 79 degrees and you want 83 degrees, don't sweat it. IRL, they don't get the ideal temps every day in the wild.
