Hi everyone, I have a question regarding management of roach colonies.
I currently have two large bioactive roach colonies (orange heads and Dubia). I set them up last summer with about 25-30 roaches of each type and added about 10 giant canyon isopods to each Enclosure initially just as CuC...
So I have one female brown anole. I’ve had her for at least six months, and she has a bio active vivarium all to herself since I haven’t been able to find another at the reptile shops in my area (they’re just sold as snake food here). I have giant canyon isopods and spring tails as CuC. Today, I...
Hello, Some of my baby grasshoppers I’ve been hatching have grown up, can someone help me ID them?
@snitz427 @jamest0o0 or anyone else?
I’m in Denver, Colorado, USA
Hi! So, I've been feeding my CB hoppers a variety of organic greens from the store (mustard greens, turnip greens, kale, and romaine) and they are growing well on it but is this enough? They won't gutload on bug burger or the like. Is this a problem for when I feed them off to my Cham? I know...
Hi, so, I've basically given up on my snails breeding; they eat and make a huge mess, but no babies so I've just accepted that I have pet snails now. I've put them in a terrarium with plants (that I know they don't like to eat), corkbark, moss, and dead leaves on a coconut coir substrate, a...
Just wanted to share a couple pics of my new green anole, Yaddle. My local reptile shop sells them as snake food and when I told them I wanted to get one as a pet they told me not to bother, that they make terrible pets, that they require UVB and heat, and that you can’t hold them. Good advice...
So over the past few months I've been keeping wild caught grasshoppers in an enclosure and they've been busy laying eggs cases. Since I have multiple breeds (I just throw everything I catch into same enclosure) I'm not sure which species have just hatched but I have dozens of tiny grasshoppers...
My hoppers have been busy mating, here's a pic of female laying her egg case. I believe these are red legged, and that they require diapause. I haven't been able to find any info really online so I think I will just have to experiment unless anyone here has any advice?
I have a patch of tall grass in my yard, finally went out there with a net and caught me twenty little grasshoppers plus the two big pair that I already have. Can anyone help me ID? Sorry, not great pictures, they wouldn't stop hopping.
I'm going to try to breed them!
"Are you breeding house flies now or something!?" my daughter yelled from the kitchen today.
No, no I'm not. I am however pupating blue bottle flies and forgot to snap on the cover and so they are now flying all over my house.
Family is not happy with sudden fly problem but I already get...
So, I noticed Max gaping last night before bedtime which was odd so I put him up to my ear to listen and I could hear a popping sound as he breathed, which I know from the forums usually means an RI. I freaked out and called my preferred chameleon vet, but she is out of town. I spent hours this...
Sorry for the crappy photo, taken through a magnifying lens. These little white things are all over this piece of Morning Wood in my isopod bin. I thought they were babies, but then I do have lots of actual isopod babies and these are different. Any idea?
We've come a long way from scared little baby freaking out every time mist king came on to these days, where he now rushes straight into the mist to have a drink and clean his eyes. I love him, he's such a character.
Not a great picture, but my little tree dragon is outside making his way to the top of one of his trees this morning, enjoying some morning sunshine. God I love summer time. Anyone else outside with their cham today? Let's see some pictures!
I've been running my RO filter system for six months now and I'm wondering if it's time I changed my filters and membrane. I bought a TDS tester and it's measuring 2 ppm, it used to be zero. Is 2 ppm still within safe range...
I just have to share. Maxwell is now almost 8 months old and hates roaches. I used to offer them all the time, tried seven different species, and he would always ignore them. He eats everything else I offer, so I decided about 2-3 months ago to stop offering them, to just try again when he was...
So I was on rainbowmealworms.com website ordering feeders for Max, and I noticed the "feeder lizards" tab; they sell live anoles and geckos as snake/bird food. So I ordered me a green anole for $6, as a pet. Lol. I have all this stuff unused right now since I’m done rearing my froglets: 15...
Hi Guys!
So I noticed that I suddenly have a TON of new buffalo beetle larvae cruising around in my dubia colony. Can they get out hand? Should I dump them out? I have cocofiber in the bottom of my bin and they are thriving in it whereas most of my dubia are up on the egg crates. Or is it not a...
Beautiful day in Denver so Max got to spend some time in his little tree. He enjoyed it but the second the branches started to sway in the breeze he bailed and decided that I was a more stable place to bask! And then he noticed our neighbors HUGE cottonwood and seriously went straight down my...
