I'm planning to be gone for 2 full weeks and did a deep dive on feeding automation. The misting, venting, and lights are fully automated and very reliable, but feeding can't be automated like that. I know that having someone feed my cham is ideal, but after an exhaustive search, absolutely...
I've had my male panther for almost 2 years, and the last 6 months he's always begging to come out of his enclosure. When I walk near the enclosure, he often gets on two legs and reaches toward me. He IMMEDIATELY crawls onto a stick when offered. What's up with that? I usually take him out...
I'm going to be gone a vacation for 10 days. My enclosure if fully automated except for food. My temporary solution is to let a bunch of crickets loose in my chameleon's enclosure. But I've never done crickets. My guy usually eats dubia's and some BSF's but since they don't move much, he often...
For me it was how friendly this wild animal is. He's always comes down to his special spot and reaches out when he wants to climb up my arm, usually several times a day. While he's sometimes hesitant and slow, he's not afraid.
My guy is like a monkey and loves to climb anything, but I always feel like he's going to fall when he climbs up my arm or anywhere else outside his enclosure. Especially when he's standing on just two legs on the edge of someplace. I'm assuming they don't fall very easily.
It's my first experience with shedding and it's looks like a snowstorm hit my enclosure. I had no idea shedding would happen over such a short period of time. Basically one day!
I've been on this forum every day for over a year and I thought there wouldn't be surprises once I got my chameleon. I'm surprised by the odd locations and positions that he sleeps. Here he is at the inside top of the cage. One night he slept upside down hanging from the screen top! I also...
After 18 months of chameleon research and enclosure building, it finally came together. Here is a picture of the final enclosure. Below are details of the build. A lot of the plants are new, so more coverage will happen soon once they grow in.
The custom cabinets and enclosure were built...
I'm getting my first chameleon tomorrow and I have to attach this feeder to the enclosure wall first. About how far from the nearest branch should it be? The bugs can only crawl up the inside back and the feeder is 4 inches deep. Not sure how far he can shoot his tongue. It's an 8 month old male...

I've been lurking on the forums for a long time and I don't think I've ever come across any discussion on changes in color. I've seen plenty of discussion on color change as it relates to maturation but not on shifting in color in real time. It's my understanding that they change their colors...
I saw that dubiaroaches.com has Canned Dubia's and "Zoo Med Can O’ Silkworms". Has anyone tried these? They're touted as a temporary solution if your next shipment is still a few days away. Shelf life of up to three years unopened. They also state that these freshly-preserved canned dubias are...
I'll be using a MistKing system and I'm wondering if it will over-water the plants even though it's a short cycle a few times a day. If so, does anybody use any techniques to limit absorption? Maybe partially cover the soil with plastic?
I'm finishing up the design for my custom enclosure for a panther and really want to keep it simple. Is there any reason why I can't have my Mistking go off for about 60 seconds several times a day for drinking, in lieu of a dripper? It's a very large enclosure with lots of plants and good...
