Thanks guys. I went out tonight and got him Mustard and Collard greens and hung them all over the cage. I also added some of those greens to the cricket tank so they take in some of the vitamins. I dust with Fluker's Repta-Calcium from insectivores. It says it has a minimum of 36% calcium and D3...
Any one else ever seen this happen? Merlin has stopped using his left eye completely and has had it shut for almost 3 weeks now. His right eye is fine, he is active all day, he is drinking and seems to be eating. In fact, everything looks 100% except for the fact they he has his left eye...
I don't. I originally insulated the bucket and put heat tape in between the insulation and the bucket sides to keep the whole thing warm but I found it made the water in the reservoir go bad unless I chemically treated the heck out of it. Maybe someone else has had better luck. I just fill the...
Not to much info about the Chamaeleo verrucosus out there. Anyone here keep them? I've found a basic care sheet but I am looking for some first hand experience so I can gauge if they are right for my next addition. I'm deciding between these guys and Flap necks.
Sodium by itself is not salt so you will not be dehydrating your chameleon. The water should be safe for you and all your pets. If you are really worried ask your vet.
So at the behest of others I increased the humidity levels in my veiled's cage this week by adding a 1 gallon dripper and installing a fine misting nozzle, connected to a 1/16th hp pump with a 3 gallon reservoir. I am proud to say it now "rains" in Merlins cage 2-4 times a day depending on the...
I just culled all the males tonight, I was getting to the end of this batch anyway. I was going to put them up on toothpicks in the cricket tank as a reminder to the others, but then I remembered they are bugs so I went downstairs and fed my snakes instead
So After this week's vet visit with Merlin (was in for a potential eye infection) I noticed his poop had return to normal but he had begun to rub his left eye on branches in his enclosure. I called my vet immediately and she prescribed Gentamicin Sulfate eye drops. I've been giving him 2 drops a...
I would consider roaches but I have a mind numbing fear of them annnnnd my roommate would most likely move out if he found out. I try to diversify the worms I feed him so he gets ore than just meal worms and crickets, but roaches are going to be hard for me to deal with, mentally.
Also, thanks...
So, I'm a student and I live in a small apartment. I don't have a lot of space for animals, so all of my herp racks are in my room. Thats 5 snakes, some pet feeder anoles/house geckos, and Merlin the chameleon. Merlin's food also lives in my room which is fine except that the crickets are...
I'm not sure what the law is in Sanfanciso, I know more about NY/NJ, but I would have to assume that your lease or the law must give you a period to find a new place. Might be time to call a lawyer (shudder) and ask some questions.
If you wire in a high sided container to the cage and leave cricket food/water in it and dump them all in they shouldn't be able to get out, provided the container is smooth sided. I would still ask a friend to check on him.
