Expert advice needed regarding Trioceros jacksonii merumontanus

I'm digging out my own thread. I talked to one of the manager of the reptile store and it turns out that the merus are captive bred... He assured me that they were parasites free, but also insisted on the fact that these chameleons absolutely need a big gap in temperature between day and night...

    French Feeders

I found this site (in french) that sells caterpillars, butterflies and all kind of other insects. They have bombyx eri caterpillar, I don't know if they could be considered as silkworms or hornworms. I'll read more about them and may try them. Anyway, the insects sold are supposed to be for...

    French Feeders

It definitely frustrating not be able to find a larger variety of feeders. If you can get ahold of some dubias, you can try breeding them and give the hatchling to your chameleon. Mine never accepted adult dubias, and I'm now left with a growing colony... I'm trying now to offer him baby dubias...

    French Feeders

Bonjour Adman ! Finding food for chameleons in France could be a little tricky sometimes especially if you live in the country. Local pet store (not specialized in reptiles) will only offer you meal worms, maggots and crickets (locusts if you're lucky). If you haven't found anything where you...

Expert advice needed regarding Trioceros jacksonii merumontanus

Thank you very much for your replies. I have finally decided to not go through with it as they are indeed quite expensive (250 € / animal) and since i'm not experienced enough, i'm afraid they might not last. Thanks for your wise answers.

I finally have my first cham, and LOTS of questions !!

Thank you for your answers. You can view all the details and see pictures of my terrarium here. Let me know if there's anything wrong. I realised that it might be too crowded. I have no substrate but it's hard to reach when he poops in the back. I may have to re-do it. You're right, my...

Thank you Junglefries for your comment. I have been reading a lot lately about chameleon care before getting one and checked out how they are kept in various countries like in North America, UK, Germany and of course France where I live. It's true that glass and wooden terrarium are very common...
