Thank you all for sharing
La cucaracha is no more. The pot the orchid came is tall. I think the next one I get I'll just transfer the new orchid to it. That way should another appear it will be contained!
Thank you!
I had the plastic cup out of the glazed pot several times over the months. First removing the lava rock and excess sphagnum, then occasionally dumping water when it got soaked and trimming roots. Do you think it was there the whole 7 mo. or did it hatch?
It was just such a shock...
I hope you get a laugh and ultimately someone can answer my question. Read on.
Last December (yes 7 mo. ago!) I purchased an orchid from a big home improvement store and put it in Elodin's cage. I've had great success with orchids in his viv. It just takes moving it around some...
I have a single stem umbrella tree that is getting waterlogged so I'm trying something new. I got a plastic collar cone from my vet and wrapped it closely around the stem. It fits over the edge of the pot so water runs off. Time will tell. I'll post an update in a in a couple of weeks.
Elodin, my panther has a 24x24x48" screen cage. Most of the upper half of the cage is filled wall to wall with a densely leafed Umbrella tree (braided trunk). There is open space wall to wall 10-12" from the top of the cage crisscrossed with branches and vines. He spends almost all of his...
Well, that would be a weekend thing as I work fulltime. I had just gotten an AquaZamp with raindome last weekend. I was looking for a baseline. I just guessed. It's Saturday. Now I have time to experiment.
I live in Wisconsin and just bought an Aquazamp raindome system. I'm looking for input from my  cold winter neighbors. I realize the relative humidity of our individual homes is varied but I need a starting point. What is the frequency and duration of your mistings?
Elodin's viv is...
Actually, regarding swimming. Someone posted a link to a video yesterday. It appears to be an hour long episode of a German nature show. There are several instances where a chameleon is swimming. It seemed to be part of their nature. I wish I spoke German. I've watched half so far and been...
Does anyone have any personal experience using Stephanotis plant in a panther viv? This plant is not on the flcams list (see link) which I know cannot be all inclusive. http://www.flchams.com/safe_plant_list.asp#s
It is listed on this website as 'safe'...

I hear you!! I know of one mom and pop floral greenhouse 4.5 hours from me that is like the ones I remember. Family lives nearby but it's not a winter trip where I could bring back plants. There is one local place that tries to have a variety of small plants but it's nothing like I...
If I told you the number of terrariums I have had over the years just because I LOVE moss and ferns, and epiphytes you would well, maybe believe me? lol
It started in Girl Scouts waaaaay back in the 70's when we made them at camp. It tickles me that fairy gardens have come back with all the...
