    The Swollen Eye: Hematoma

Yeah I went to her because she was one of the only vets in my area that treated chams

    The Swollen Eye: Hematoma

I've been looking through older pictures and I can now see the swelling. I just assumed when the vet didn't say anything it was fine. He's my first cham so I am kind of running around like a headless chicken. I'm a little annoyed that I paid a good chunk of money and the vet didn't catch any of...

    The Swollen Eye: Hematoma

He was on both painkillers and antibiotics and after they were done, it went down a bit. It was my mistake assuming it had gotten better. It has now come back. It's not nearly as bad as it used to be and it changes throughout the day, but it is definitely still swollen. He is acting normal...

    The Swollen Eye: Hematoma

Yeah it's just weird because the vet was pretty positive it wasn't an infection. When she took a sample of his eye it was all blood which made her think he had hit his eye. Might be time to return to the vet

    My chameleon doesn't change colours

My guy can go from a not so nice looking grey/brown to an almost blue tone - but that's when he is not so happy with me. Like this morning (actually, like always).

    The Swollen Eye: Hematoma

Updated Update Well apparently things aren't back to normal. He's eating again and his colours have gotten loads better, but his eye changes throughout the day. Not really sure what to do anymore :(

    Small PetSmart Victory

Hi everyone, just thought I would share that the PetSmart in my area is no longer selling chams! I went in to buy some crickets and when chameleons came up, the lady told me they aren't allowed to sell them anymore. This is great news, considering that they kept them in tiny, glass tanks and I...

    Male veiled not eating

How are the temps in the cage? My guy stopped eating for a bit and I realized my temps were off. Fixed them and he is back to normal.

    The Swollen Eye: Hematoma

**UPDATE** His eye has sunk back down finally! Still a tad swollen but it is moving normally and he does not appear to be annoyed with it anymore. During his recovery, I did a thorough investigation of his cage and figured out my thermometer was broken and was 15 degrees off. Poor guy was...

Chameleons eye randomly swollen and strange. Hell!

This does look like my cham's eye, however with the hematoma it is constantly swollen. If this continues my only advice would be to check in with a vet! Best of luck :)

    The Swollen Eye: Hematoma

Thanks everyone! Yeah he is definitely not happy with me, even more so than usual. I wish there was an easier way to give him the medicine but he will just have to deal with being wrapped in a towel and having syringes stuck in his mouth. He bit down pretty hard on it this morning... A lot...

    The Swollen Eye: Hematoma

Leon developed an extremely swollen eye within a day. And when I say swollen, I mean really swollen (see image). Having seen posts earlier regarding such eye issues, I thought it to be an infection or vitamin deficiency. After taking him to the vet, however, it was discovered that the swelling...

    MBD Concern: Spine and Legs

Ah yes. I see now after looking in to the lights more that, as you said, there are much better choices out there. Also found a place to order feeders from in the process so two birds one stone! Thanks for the help :)

    MBD Concern: Spine and Legs

I've been using Exo Terra Repti Glo 5.0, fluorescent coil. This one is just on the verge of 6 months. Getting new ones soon hopefully, pet store that closed was the only one near me that sold them :( Do not believe there were. I had guessed they were congenital, but was unsure. He did climb...

    MBD Concern: Spine and Legs

Hi all, so for some info on Leon: . Chameleon Info: Chameleon - Veiled, male, unsure of age, would guess about 3 years (pet store bought unfortunately) Handling - Very, very rarely. Has been aggressive and unsocial since young (hissing, head butting) Feeding - Since he refuses to eat...

    New Homemade Enclosure!

Finally got my new enclosure made for my little guy! So glad to have him out of his little cramped terrarium. Got my dad to build me one with his carpentry skills :D Sorry for the sideways picture haha, but it's about 3 1/2-4 ft tall and about 2 ft wide, all mesh sidings with reptile bedding on...

    hissing at me :(

I was about to make a post asking the same questions! Haha. When I first got my little guy, he did anything to get out of the tank. Now he doesn't even let me get my hand in there without scaring the crap out of me with his demon hiss.. It's getting so bad he hisses at me even when I stand...

Are Easter Lily Okay for Chams?

Yeah I was a little thrown off by the cat thing, but thought I might as well ask. Thanks for replying!! I guess Leon will just have to wait a bit longer for the greenhouses to open. Having a chameleon when you live up North definitely has its downfalls :(
