Thanks for the reply.
I was definitely thinking of testing which feeders my new guy will like before starting a colony of anything (my first cham wouldn't even recognize that roaches existed, but I also didn't have him long and he was young). But I wanted to figure out the feasibility of...
What's the best size for a colony to feed a single veiled? I'll be getting a new sub-adult/adult male soon and dubias just seem like a better choice and easier to keep. Do full grown veileds eat adult dubias, or do the roaches get too big?
Any pointers people could suggest would be much...
Prior to my first chameleon passing away in April I had bought a small container of Dubia roaches, I ended up putting them in the same cage that I was keeping my crickets in. Well, when my veiled passed I only had a couple of crickets left and the roaches. Not thinking much of it I hadn't done...
Thanks! I just need to figure out where I'm purchasing from, hook up my temp/humidity gauges and a feeding cup, and then once I have him there will definitely be pictures inbound!
The way you have your dripper weighted against the screen, you obviously don't have issue with it dripping through the screen? When I tried that it just collected on top of the screen and unpredictably dripped through. I ended up poking a small hole in the screen to slip the drip tube into the...
This is perfect! Nice to hear that other people have tried this. I have one of those "little drippers" (1/2gal?) and it doesn't seem to grow anything. My enclosure has a drainage system that I pretty much just finished so excess water shouldn't be an issue.
Thanks!
Has anyone ever split their Mistking to try and keep their dripper topped off? It seems to me like the basic pump you get can handle up to several mist heads before loosing effectiveness. It would be nice if I didn't have to worry about checking on my dripper as frequently (I seem to have a...
Should I try and space them more in the middle, or keep them up towards the top? My previous veiled was a youngster (~5mo) who almost exclusively used either the pothos or the screen as his primary climbing routes. I'm going to be getting an adult veiled next and I just want to make sure I...
I'm revamping my enclosure at the moment (it will house an adult veiled). Already created a custom drain base, and I added dragon ledges for supports. While attaching the ledges I was able to also incorporate some plexiglass on two sides to help keep the humidity up. I also ended up making a...
It's been a while, but I got the drainage base pretty much all done. I didn't take as many "during" pictures as I meant to, but I'll post what I've got. I just need to drill a hole for the water to drain out of, and that should do it.
Is the humidity still stable since you added the ventilation? I think I've seen other people point out that humidity can affect shedding. Otherwise maybe your cham is just upset at a change to his habitat and needs some time to adjust?
Thanks for the info! I'm hoping to start putting stuff together soon, just finished a hectic couple of weeks learning how to run the sound board for a local community theater group, but I'm all done now so I have my life back!
In all of my research looking for plants for my chameleon enclosure I've found a lot of lists about safe plants, but that usually seems to be all it is... With some help I'd be willing to put together a more comprehensive resource that would take a step beyond safe/unsafe. My goal would be to...
I think luan is probably what I'm going to use to make some sort of a gradient to direct water to a drain. I'll either cover it with something like the tite-seal flashing or I'll use something like marine varnish (unless that's a no-no around chams). I just want something smooth for the bottom...
Does anyone know how much weight the frame of a reptibreeze xl can handle? I've been going through some different options for revamping my enclosure, and I came across this:Wall mounted planter bag. It seems like it would be the perfect kind of thing to not only get a really gorgeous living...
