I dont know to much about chameleon hearing but I can tell you that once asleep my cham has never woke up due to music or movie being to lound. He has slept with a whole party going on next to him. You want to keep noise levels down for sure but thought I'd add what little I know about hearing.

halogen I use a halogen, they are very powerful lights and have to be used carefully. They give off lots of heat and also last ALOT longer then standard heat bulbs.
