The chameleon with no name, a journey of love and patience, revisited.

Galadriel is in her new house, and already adjusting SO well, even after a three hour drive home. She was initially hesitant to climb in and wanted to stay on my hand instead (she’s startlingly comfy with handling), but eventually acquiesced and sat in the basking spot for a while. It was...

The chameleon with no name, a journey of love and patience, revisited.

Indeed! Since our last boy was “Smaug”, I have decided upon a name… Ladies and gentlemen, I’d like to introduce you to… GALADRIEL! I’m a huge Tolkienite, so it was an easy choice! This little one is also super pretty and has been a warrior from the start of her life, so I think it’s pretty...

The chameleon with no name, a journey of love and patience, revisited.

This is what awaits her at home for tonight. It’s not complete by any means but a decent start and a massive upgrade from what she had!

The chameleon with no name, a journey of love and patience, revisited.

We are on the way home! She is a complete and total sweetheart and spent the first half of the drive just climbing hands and chilling. No dark colors, no mouth open, she seems very mellow and content. Probably very happy to get out of that tiny tank they had her in. Interestingly, she started...

DIY Pressure dripper!! No more buckets or jugs on top of the enclosure! Keep your step stool in the closet!

Yep, here’s a couple pics. Instead of using a mistking spray nozzle, I just attach some more tubing on the inside to the mistking double female connector so it can swivel around and be adjusted. It feels like it belongs as a part of the whole system, very clean if I say so myself. And excuse...

DIY Pressure dripper!! No more buckets or jugs on top of the enclosure! Keep your step stool in the closet!

Hey everyone. I’m having fun building this new Cham enclosure, so I figured I’d share another little DIY life support system I came up with several years ago. It worked so dang well for my last Cham, I’m making another one. The Jist: You connect a garden pump sprayer to 1/4” OD tubing (the same...

    Chameleon dripper system *help*!

Hey! I was just going to make a thread showing off my custom drippers I’ve made for my two Chams. I used a small pump sprayer, some 1/4 OD tubing (same thing as the mistking tubing), a ball valve, and an irrigation drip nozzle. You cut the handle off the pump sprayer, heat up the black tubing...

    DIY drainage pan build!

Hey all! I started building a drainage pan for my new chameleons enclosure today, and figured I’d share the info for anyone who wants to attempt to build their own. My biggest complaint with previous drip trays I’ve had is the accumulation of water, eventually turning into a bacterial soup if...

The chameleon with no name, a journey of love and patience, revisited.

Hey all, happy holidays! Some of you might remember a thread I posted circa 2017, in which we rescued a Sambava panther boy, nursed him back to health, and he exploded into a massive healthy guy. If you don’t, no problem, here’s the thread...

Pots that hang on dragon ledges?

THAT is exactly what I was looking for, thank you!

Pots that hang on dragon ledges?

Thanks guys! I have had plants mounted like that for a few years, but I’d like to get some pots that are less permanent. I remember seeing someone post about pots that have a lip for hanging on a rack, and they worked well with dragon ledges, looking for some of those!

Pots that hang on dragon ledges?

Hey everyone! It's time for a revamp of the cage, after three years I have been able to evaluate what works and what doesn't. Does anyone know of plant pots that have a lip that allows them to hang (sturdily) on the dragon ledges in the dragon strand cages? Advice much appreciated!

Can I put henna on my chameleon?

Totally don’t mean to come off as a jerk. 1. It’s a whimsical idea. I get it. But, NO. SUPER HARD NO. Non-Toxic and Organic doesn’t mean NON HARMFUL. Speaking as a paramedic, Organic compounds are some of the deadliest compounds on earth, if you study chemistry. Sure, henna is safe for a human...

Wood rotting, alternative for real wood? PVC?

Let me know what you guys think! I saw another trick for bending the PVC, filling it with sand and capping it so it doesn’t kink! Pretty cool stuff. many research says pretty much any stain would be fine if covered with polyurethane. Or I can just go the acrylic paint route and maybe have to...

Wood rotting, alternative for real wood? PVC?

I just saw a video about making PVC look like wood by sanding and gouging it with a file, then staining it. Looks good enough for an enclosure and would be MUCH MUCH cheaper than buying the zoo poxy. Does anyone know of a terrarium-safe stain, or if normal wood stains would be terrarium safe?

Wood rotting, alternative for real wood? PVC?

I think that is going to be my go-to. I was kinda curious about the long term effects of PVC on a Cham, but I imagine if I get the water line quality stuff, it should be perfectly safe!

Wood rotting, alternative for real wood? PVC?

Hey guys! Looking for some input. I have a large clear side atrium cage for my Panther Cham, he’s been in it for about 3 years. When I built it, I used a lot of cured madrone wood as perches and supports running between dragon ledges and holding up pots. I sprayed a ton of pond and stone foam...

The chameleon with no name, a journey of love and patience (VERY PIC HEAVY).

Hey guys, my dad hasn’t posted in a long time because he’s been REALLY busy with a new paramedic job, but I wanted to update! I just turned FOUR YEARS OLD. I am a big HUGE and PROUD Sambava. I am healthy, happy, and VERY tame. I am now 18 inches long! I LOVE being held and getting out of my...

The chameleon with no name, a journey of love and patience (VERY PIC HEAVY).

Hey all, sorry to reassurrect an old dead thread, but I wanted to give an update. I ended up getting a fantastic and very wild job as a paramedic so I have been unable to log on here for quite a while. The Chameleon has a name, it is Smaug, the terrible. We just call him Smaug the sweetie...
