You should research what chameleon colors and body language mean. To me, she looks a little scared and possibly a little stressed. Are you the only one that comes into the room? Is she next to the door or farther into the room? Right next to a door with a lot of movement will cause her stress...
Just keep changing types you feed him, as mentioned above. Mine has a favorite bug. Canned crickets....its really weird. I tried live at first but she totally ignored them and flipped out if they came closer. She likes the ones that are pre dead apparently. Occasionally she will ignore those too...
It helps sometimes if you cover the carrier/transport thing with a towel. If they can't see anything, they have nothing to stress about. It will also keep some heat trapped.
Someone may have already mentioned this, but the basking temp needs to be at the highest 90°F and at the lowest, around 85°F. It is really good if the temperature is somewhere in between them as well. Just watch out for an open mouth for prolonged periods of time. That means she is too hot...
He seems to be hiding a lot, judging from pics. He could still be getting used to being someplace new. That usually takes a couple of months. As for color, being dark is okay. It is showing he could be scared, cold, or stressed. Good luck finding out which it is. Read up on chameleon coloration...
Okay, I live in New York. I should be used to snow, which I am, but it needs to get its metaphorical butt out of here. This recent nor-easter left me with no power for FOUR days. Yes, I know people have it worse. I admit that im a spoiled child. The reason I feel out is because my family left me...
I know my chameleon associates my hand with food. Do you hand feed your chameleon? If so, it could be a case of mistaken identity. Do some cage maintenance, like cleaning up the poops, and he or she could get used to your hand as a bringer of food and is safe to be with.
So, now I've had my chameleon for a little while. She totally eats from my hand (crickets, kale, strawberry...) every time I bring food into her cage. But even when I just pit my hand in with no food, she shys away. I approach and do everything exactly the same as if I had food in my hand. I can...
Momo, my 8 month old veiled chameleon, has just gotten a brand new enclosure. Well... I added plants, but it looks so good that I need to tell people. Momo is not the friendliest chameleon but she is very active and inquisitive. She has a horrible attitude towards anyone picking her up. I've...
Okay, she still is eating and drinking. I turned the dropper up so more water is available and I will mist the enclosure for 3 minutes every 4 hours unless the leaves still look wet. Thank you for helping me out.
Okay, bad news. I think I have caught her in the early stages of a sinus infection. Part of her eye is beginning to swell. It not enough that she can't use the eye but it is slightly noticeable. She also has very tiny bumps between her eyes and on her 'forehead'. I will upload some pictures.
Okay, I freaked out over nothing.
There was fuzz sticking to her eye that wouldn't come off. We have now bonded and she let's me touch her face! Wahh! I'm blown away! Definetly not scared of me anymore!
Okay, she did NOT like the shower. I know that because she scrambled onto my arm, which she doesn't do.
When I turned on her light this morning, her eye looked a little crusty but it went away after some water dripped onto the eye. Since she didn't like the shower, the best I could do was drip...
I mist for about 3 minutes or until the mistings bottle I use runs out of water. I don't use cold water but I also don't use hot water. Unfortunately, I have not gotten an automatic mister. It is on my list of things to get when I get my next paycheck though ^_^
I also read about the shower...
