If i had a choice I would not have gotten involved with this species. It is a little much for me. At the same token now that I am starting to get everything set up, I am glade I have it. It has not been as bad as I thought. I am still not done but we are getting there.
I was suppost to get a new cage and fogger from a friend but he recently had a corona scare. So we are now staying away and I had to change my options a little late in the game. I think i have it all resolved with the exceptions of going bioactive and not having its new enclosure yet.
She/he is doing well. Dehydration issue is gone. It has been eating and drinking well. Every step I take adding to its enclosure seems to make it a little happier. I will have to take some more pics soon with all the changes.
I can not deny i was worried about that when I did the initial post. I gave a pre disclaimer in hopes it would curve that. And I think it did well at that. I try to remember that it is about the animal and that while they can give a hard time they are trying to help. So I try to to take it...
I agree, and I get your initial concern. I felt that was better than persay a box like they do over the weekend for reptile shows. Was it the best idea? No. But it was the best I had at the moment. I am still not quite there yet but I am working on it. I am not sure yet if I am going to go...
Also with that being said the statement he quoted said quick set up. Not new set up. And bark does have purpose. It holds humidity. Since I was leaving out of town for the weekend it needed something. I was not about to cancel my weekend over it, if it died it died. At least I can say I...
Right now it has no su
I see the same thing regarding sand boas, they absolutely run risk in the wild. It is just a matter of providing the best possible scenario we can. For example I use ground aspen instead of sand and they like it. Also if they eat it. It is digestible. Some people...
The new fogger came in yesterday, the lights come in today, the new cage I am waiting on. Fan added, cooling system added, bark removed. New plants added. It was litterlay thrown in my lap. That cage was originally set up for tokays but never got used. The bark was to hold a small amount...
I also noticed differences in color when sleeping. Some of them tend to just get darker in color while others. Have red popping in along the sides and back. May just be genetic or something else all together.
That is a highly probable. I tried catching from different colonies to reduce the chances of them all being the same sex. But when it comes to the adults I noticed differences in escape patterns as well. The males would take off on a full on 40yrd dash. The females would run to the nearest...
That is really impressive. The picture definitely define it well. I think my little ones you could use this technique.
That us really impressive. I will have to read more into that and experiment with some of my other lizards just to make sure I know what I am doing.
Your right we are not going to sway in either direction. I respect your opinion in the matter and appreciate the conversation anyway. I am glad that two people in the community can have a civilized conversation without being disrespectful. I do feel that your misunderstanding alot of what I am...
I do not have all the answers. I am just speculating on what I do know. I am not following what you mean by both ways. I just think there are better ways that just telling people what they can and can not keep. Maybe they have figured it out and this is the best way, I just do not feel...
I get coyote, and Bob cats on my yard all the time. We shoot the coyote. I have seen one panther that roams the area, and a few bears but I do not see bears often. Racoons are everywhere. We just do what we can to keep them out of the trash.
