I think that a quality lens is more important than a more expensive body as far as Image Quality goes when using the camera in regular conditions. It is when you are pushing the camera to its limits is where the more expensive bodies earn their keep. Like low light conditions, faster frames...
Basically you mount your Macro lens like you normally do. Then using the coupler (make sure you buy one that matches the filter threads on both lenses) add the 50mm lens. Keep the aperture on the 50mm lens wide open or else you will get a black ring in your shots (this Aperture does not affect...
oops....I guess PNG files get resized here....
Here are the individual jpgs.
left is standard macro (105mm)
middle is with the 50mm added on the 105 macro
last is a 100% crop of the 105 +50 setup.
It is trickier to get a good shot since your DOF is so shallow being this close to the subject. A tripod is a must and most people use a focusing rail to move the camera on the tripod. I do the opposite and move the subject back and forth to focus.
Here is an example of a Hibiscus macro. The...
just your standard 50mm f/1.4 or f/1.8 lens. You can pick up the couplers from ebay or any camera shop. Just match the filter size of both lenses. This couples them together and you have the rear of your 50mm (or any other lens) to shoot with.
If you have your Macro at 1:1 and put the 50mm...
If you take that Macro and stick a 50mm on top of it (using a reversing coupler) you can get even closer.
Here are some macros of an ant I got using a Nikon 105mm macro with a Nikon 50mm lens added to it.
You are more likely to get leaks if you use a round bucket, since the bulkhead doesn't sit flat.
I don't use a bulkhead anymore. I just run the tube through a hole near or at the top of the bucket and run it to the bottom. No worries about leaks after I did that (except for the occassional...
Thank You
Thank You, Brad and Judges for choosing my picture. What a great honor, especially with all the great pictures this month. :):):)
If at all possible I would like to donate my prize to ChamEO for all the great work that they do.
Again thanks for the win,
Manny
Wheat Bran... You can buy it at any feed store cheap. (50 lb bag is $12) you only need 1 to 2 pounds for a big tub. Some store will sell by the pound (usually 50 cent /lbs).
As far as beetles, I never seen one fly. I keep mine in several shoe box size plastic tubs with a vented cover. Each...
I remember the first time I put a Hibiscus in the cage with one of mine. The plant decided to bloom after a couple weeks (bright red flower). My chameleon (8 months old at the time) did the same thing. Froze in his tracks for a whole day trying to assess the situation. :D.
Now they are all...
