I have taken my panther cham to two, different exotic vets for eye issues over the past two years and both have recommended Repashy Vitamin A Plus 3. Maybe it's something they always recommend, the vet said she sees a lot of eye issues with geckos. I have never used it before.
I did find...
I took a few head shots today and until now, didn't notice what you pointed out. I've compared what I see with my cham to the photos of panthers in the Contibute pics! thread and indeed the casque and cheeks look sunken in. That right eye still hasn't opened so I will probably be taking him back...
Eye infection was the diagnosis. The vet said he otherwise looked great. He's also eating and drinking everyday. Here Larry is a few days ago getting his twofer on.
My otherwise healthy 2 yr male Panther has had his right eye closed shut for about two weeks now. He has been to the exotic vet just once, last year and that was because there were buldges in the forward areas of his eye turrets. Not sure what they did beyond eye flush and drops while he was...
Here's my YBBB Ambilobe at around the four month mark. Mostly green and some black but when he first arrived (I think three months), he was mostly just a tan color.
Has your babe shed yet? Males subadults will show more vibrant color after full body shed. If I had to guess, I'd just say give...
Ditto. I also feel no guilt for the captive animals in manicipal zoos across the nation as the animals there are prority one. They never have to hunt or stress about when the next meal will come, it's guaranteed! And vet care is top notch so captive longevity will usually surpass the average...
I've been using this as my plant light for a couple of years now with marginal success. Does anyone kow if they're good up until they burn out or should they be replaced before that like UVB bulbs?
I'm also wondering if this would be a little more effective on the plants but without harming...
Good for you for committing to the annual checkup. Is this something a lot of cham keepers do? I suppose this thread would be exhibit A of why we should...
You have a Vield or Panther? Although my boy is surrounded by lively greens I've never seen him graze.
Dubia is his staple and up until now, there have always been a surplus of them available in the feeder. However, it's only when I throw some crickets in there will he immediately make a b-line...
The dubias don't escape but crickets do. My cham has become such a glutton recently that he'll walk up to the feeder and help himself to all crickets I throw in there so they that fixes that :)
I had this problem in both eyes when my Panther was about a year old. I took him to the vet and they flushed but don't think they lanced them (I had to wait in the car) and he seemed good for a while. Then, only the right eye had a bulge again. It didn't seem to bother him so I let it go for...
I've had Larry in my care now for a year and half, got him as a 3 month old. I've always kept his feeder active with Dubias (his staple) and rarely ever saw him help himself. Until now. Does he look too robust? Time to restrict the buffet?
Around 1995 I was working for a tech company and was flown to Tampa for an install. I think it was September and was thrilled to see so many geckos and tree frogs hanging out in the stairwell outside my La Residence! After a week in Tampa there was trouble brewing at the Jacksonville office so I...
I noticed this over aged Dubia emerge (must've escaped feeder) and noticed the odd appendage. As it moved, it was clearly attached. I swiped it with a paper towel and flushed immediately! Looks like what a baby hornworm molt but not sure why it was at the roach's opposite end?
I ran a quick search and found this online at Petco but not Petsmart. Naturally, not available for in-store pick up. Both still sell the old kit :(
But alas, it looks like someone is listening! Much respect to those who have influenced some desicions that are at least moving in the right...
