Excellent thread. I just noticed my own gnat problem today. Bought a steam cleaner to take care of it for now, but I like the idea of a small pitcher plant as well. You keep them in the cage or elsewhere?

Anyone had any problems with gnats? I have noticed a few little winged bugs in my cage recently. Today when I was watering my plant, I noticed there were some more massing around the rocks on top of the soil. Anyone have any ideas about how to get rid of them? I'd rather not repot my plants...

That looks like the schefflera actinopylla to me, man. I'm not real big on the plants as much as some of the other members, but those leaves look way different than my sheff.
