Just realized today that I’ve had Yoshi for over 3 years and he turns 4 in June. This is my first chameleon and he has even managed to do a full state move in 2022. I got Yoshi from @Acham and wanted to post a little update showing how he was doing!
So right after Yoshi (13 months, male) sheds he kind of goes on this exploring rampage and runs all around his cage and on the screen, most likely looking for a female. This is the only time he screen climbs.
This time he slipped and broke a nail:
Ive read previous threads to keep it dry and...
I have been absolutely in love with these ice cube containers for freezing my blended gutload: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B08S2W8659?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
I normally froze it in a block and then try to chip off at the block, but this is so much better! And then it just pops...
Hi everyone! So far things have been going well. This week has been the first week where temperatures reached around 70-78° where I live. (Normally it’s 40-50°). It was nice and I got to take my little man Yoshi (male panther 9months) outside to be in the sun 🙂
I notice that his hot spot...
That’s a decent price IMO, I bought this one ($42 after shipping) http://www.lllreptile.com/products/36314-t5-ho-single-bulb-light-strip--36
But it did not come with the light, so I got that online in bulk (about $16 a bulb)
Good on you for getting everything ready to go before you get him!
Lights a HO T5 5/6% UVB Linear fixture is recommended. I got mine on LLCreptile. Mine is 36 inches long, but that was the only option for me when I was trying to get one. A 24 inch would work well too.
You need a heat lamp too...
I’m so sorry this happened to you. It definitely sounds super weird and I hope the breeder can help you out more. Did you have your baby on a heated seat? I have no idea what would have caused all this in two hours
Ugh that’s so incredibly annoying. I know she said her last chameleon died from liver failure. She has comments off on her Instagram page so you can’t even try to say something there
So there is an animal YouTuber who has 185k subscribers who recently popped up in my recommended because she just got two new panther Chameleon babies and made a video about her building her enclosure.
I watched it because I love enclosure builds, but oh my goodness was it so frustrating to...
I also had this problem this week. I took the plant out of the cage and dumped all the soil into a bowl. I then washed the root bulb until it was only roots. I took the soil and while you can replace it with fresh organic soil, I microwaved mine to kill any possible eggs in the dirt 😅 Repoted it...
I recommend @Acham to anyone interested! He was super helpful with me and I got one of his June hatchlings. Yoshi is healthy and his colors are very bold at 7 months
It should be okay because it looks to be a repti brand. I bought this one last month and I like it so far https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07J4PD3BZ?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
Hi James! I’ve been looking to mix up feeders for my guy, maybe with Discoids or a different mix of roaches. Do you have some species that you suggest from your colonies?
She might be stressed from something else as well, (like not being able to hide well). Going over your husbandry is helpful to stop any issues before they become worse. The people here are super helpful and amazing!
I’m not a pro, but when it comes to the lighting I’ve seen it stressed to get the 5 or 6%. The 10-12% might be too strong and is only recommended for enclosures with aggressive plant coverage. When building I also suggest checking out FB marketplace to see if you can get some handy stuff for...
Something you may also want to consider depending where you are is a pet sitter if you have no friends/family in the area. They don’t have to be checked on everyday, but having someone come by in the middle of your trip to give food or check lights/misting working properly might be helpful.
